Overall, an adequate smallish rom with comfortable bed and well fitted bathroom (shower only), however the room was fairly warm and despite the air conditioning being on the lowest setting, the room didn't really cool down

If you are visiting London this is the perfect place to stay. The tube stn is underneath the hotel do you are straight on the central line and then you have the beautiful Hyde Pk over the road. The service was excellent and the room was perfect. Definitely recommend.

How nice and helpful everyone is at this hotel on the one occasion i did not slepp well in the hotel they pulled out all the stops to satisy me the next time i stayed. im a fan
Summary
No complaints about this hotel at all, was slightly surprised to be sleeping in a single bed, and a very low single bed at that, as I felt like I was staying in a child's room, but if that's the way they can get to £133 a night, then so be it. I'd stay here again.
Summary
Brilliant hotel with high quality. Rooms were superb and spotless. The gym equipment is really good quality and a pleasure to use. Had a brilliant stay within my company expenses budget
Summary
Excellent location at the heart of londons best shopping facilities and designer stores, a stones throw from the exclusive park lane. Green park and Hyde park on your doorstep
For tranquil strolls, excellent dining establishments.
Absolutely amazing, the breakfast experience will be talked about for years to come!
Summary
A very good and well positioned hotel in the centre of London. I would definitely go back again.
Summary
Good location. Clean. Seemed to be a recently refurbished room. Fittings of a good standard for the price paid. Swift check in and check out. Swift concierge service. Not what I would call a luxury hotel but good value for London
Summary
The quality of the Cumberland facilities has not changed. An exellent stay, and will return
Summary
I booked the rooms for some VIP clients and went to the hotel at 1pm to double check everything was OK. I got a call from the client one hour later saying they had arrived but the hotel had no record for the booking. Very embarrassing!

A wonderful hotel in an ideal location. Staff were great, room was great and food was extraordinary. Thanmk you for a lovely stay
Summary
The hotel is located right next to the Marble Arch tube which was fantastic for getting around the city. The hotel staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The room was a little small but perfectly fine for my requirements and well equiped. My only complaint would be the noisy air conditioning units but apart from that highly recomended.
Summary
We chose this hotel due to the great location and because we got an excellent last minute rate. Check-in was quick and staff friendly. Rooms were nothing special but clean and well equiped for a short stay. Only issue was we requested a quiet room on booking and at check-in and were given a room on the first floor directly opposite a casino. When we returned to our room after dinner the music from the casino was extremely loud. It really wasn't possible to get any sleep. We were moved to a quiet room on request and with no fuss as the hotel wasn't busy - but why put us in the first room which the hotel must have known would be exceptionally noisy on a Friday evening in the first place! - annoying, though wouldn't stop us from staying again.
Summary
I have down marked two items because of the mistakes with double booking of a room and the noise from the Club below our room.
Summary
The hotel room was very basic and small and what you would expect of a 3*. Having said that the staff were helpful to updgrade us when the heating and tv wasnt working in our initial room. The hotel needs work. We stayed here for 1 night due to flying in and out of London but wouldnt stay here for longer either for business or leisure.
Summary
The hotel was OK in general, the bar was pleasant. You are presented with a vast but noisy foyer. The check was well staffed but the systems seemed to take forever for the receptionist to complete. The room was a bit small really more like a single with a double bed squeezed in; you could only get in one side as the other side was against the wall. The room fitted out quite well with modern furniture. The nice TV was ruined by a poor signal feed - fuzzy picture, poor sound and a noisy buzz. But I could not hear the buzz when the music from a private partty two floors down started and went on until after midnight - appalling if you want to get some sleep. Staff apolegetic the next day and cancelled our bar bill after some negotiation.
Summary
I will stay here every time am in London for business if they can keep prices at such a sensible deal
Not sure how businessed justify paying London hotel prices , when all you need in central location , bed and shower . Well done Guoman
Stayed in the annex for the second time in a week. I was upgraded to an executive room on the first stay (Very Nice), so was a little dis-appointed with the room on the second stay, but in fairness it was what I paid for. Clean, tidy room but too warm, so if you opened the window the noice level increased significantly. but on the whole would stay again and its a great location.
Summary
I had repeated times where I was waiting to get into my room. Five times in total. Needed to wait around in the corridors for about ten minutes each time after having replaced the card by going up and down to reception. If was very frustrating and a dreadful level of service that I would not have expected from a decent hotel.
Summary
Hotel Room was lovely, had a spacious room on the third floor, only down side, room was Freezing cold - i reported the problem to reception at 10.30pm as i could tell the heating/air con unit was not working and with a drafty window i was very cold. They informed me they would tell maintenance and send someone to fix the problem. 9.30am the next morning maintenance man came - the day we were checking out - he confirmed what i suspected that the unit was faulty and would need an engineer to look at it. I have since come back home with a head cold! Apart from the room being very cold, room lovely, shower powerful, and tea and coffee facilities excellent. would stay again however would insist someone to come and fix heating sooner.
Summary
Only problem with the room was the Walls are very thin. You can hear everything from rooms next to yours.
Summary
The hotel was perfectly decent, the price was good, the location very good. However, the lady on check-in was rather abrupt and bordering on rude and the service from both of the bars in the hotel was painfully slow to the point that we walked out of the first one after waiting over 10 minutes to be served with no-one at the bar, and waited about 5 minutes in the second with no-one at the bar, which is rather poor. Rooms were good though. Fine to stay at if it's just a nesting place for your weekend adventures, wouldn't stay there for the quality of the stay though.
Summary
My first time at this hotel. Excellent location to shopping in London. Staff are well mannered and very happy to help. Room had excellent shower facilities. Will certaily stay there again.
Summary
Excellent location, great base for exploring all that London has to offer.
On arriving at Hotel to check-in was given a free upgrade from our standard double room to an Executive suite room which was a nice surpise. (have since heard that they try to do this for guests if possible)
Room and whole experience was very nice so would therefore highly recommend this fine Hotel to anyone thinking of staying in London for whatever occasion.
Stylish room, very clean, bed a little too soft but that's down to personal taste
Summary
We arrived to check in at around 3pm to be greeted at reception by a very warm and friendly lady, Nigora who arranged, as a special treat, an upgrade with Marble arch views in an executive suite. A real bargain luxury accomodation and such a lovely gesture. Great time had for a long weekend however the man changing the lightbulbs in our bathroom, without invitation, was rather strange to wake up to!!
Summary
The Cumberland is literally around the corner from Marble Arch tube station (five minutes maximum), so great for buzzing into the West End or anywhere else in London, and the throbbing heart of the shoppers' paradise - Oxford Street. Fabulous atrium is adequately backed up by good-sized and clean rooms. We paid half the usual price for our room on the seventh floor with Late Rooms. No view (internal only) but who needs it when you spend so much time outside? You would need to book an executive room or ask for a standard room with an odd number - if possible - to see the outside world. Amenities of note were TV, fridge, great power shower (although be prepared for a cold blast if you are the first to use it!) and a decent bed. You can't ask for any more than that.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Concierge was more than happy to take care of our luggage whilst we strolled in Hyde Park (which is also just across the road) before our train departed . All in all a great weekend that wasn't detracted from by a poor hotel. Stay here and enjoy!!
We upgraded from a standard room to an executive room. The door of the room did not denote that it was. The room was cold we couldn't warm it up and the air conditioning was loud. The curtain barely covered the window and there was a large stain on the carpet near the entrance to the room. We asked for two additional pillows but neither was provided. There was only one ordinary coffee packet the others were decaffeinated! there was only one chair to sit on very poor for an executive room in our view. It was noisy the guests next door and in the corridor no manners or decorum or thoughts given to other guests staying at the hotel. We looked out onto large areas of broken walls that clearly needed attention. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was good as was the towels. The executive lounge was noisy constant pinging of the lifts and the lighting was not good in all areas no champagne in the lounge as promised when upgraded and the croissants dry and flaky.
Summary
Great location, rooms very clean and nicely decorated. Great value for money.
Summary
The position of the Hotel is so central to any W1 places to visit, situated to the right of Marble Arch Station, passing Pret A Manger and turning right into Cumberland Rd for the main entrance. Burger King and McDonalds are very close by. Opposite the entrance is Prezzo Restaurant - small but a lovely atmosphere. The reception area is VERY large and contemporary. I loved the 2 "larger than life" models of men and the screen behind the reception desk, showing men and women floating in water continuously ! The receptionists are always quick and willing to help and very knowledgeable. The Guest Relations are also very good at handling any problems with the hotel. The Concierge, again a bunch of very kind and knowledgeable bunch you can go to for any knowledge of London (transport etc) and of course looking after luggage. The bars and the Rhodes W1 Restaurant looked very elite - but I never used these facilities - so cannot comment any further. There is however a Nightclub called Carbon - which is also open to the public in the evening. This was very enjoyable, a relaxed, but immensely dark place, with the illusion that you were in a dark warehouse ! Drinks are pricey (but to be expected at any central London Hotels). A G & T was £6.50. On this subject, there was a huge poster in reception, advertising that if you stay at this Hotel, you will be entitled to special offers on drink there. The TV info in the room also advertised this. When I asked the Bar Lady at Carbon - she knew of no such offers and charged me full price. I challenged this, later on that evening with Guest Relations and she apologised profusley and said that all members of staff would now be made aware of this and to that end, she offered me a FREE bottle of champagne, as a way of an apology - a very generous gesture I thought ! There is a Gym - but I didn't go into it, as I didn't even know about it ! I had booked a single room (thru Late Rooms.com). My room (5107) was on the 5th floor and just overlooked other rooms in a courtyard effect. At least it was quiet, not overlooking the main Marble Arch Road - as the window was a "sash" original type. Because it was not double glazed - it did let in some fresh air at the bottom !. I was pleasantly surprised with how large my single room was. The room was equipped with many things:- bath and shower (unfortunately my bath plug wasn't terribly efficient and so had to keep topping up the water (very wasteful). The sink was a large toughened glass bowl ! The room had an area for tea/coffee making facilities, a small fridge and an adequate wardrobe. This was sectioned off with a toughened panel glass, which also acted as the headboard - very contemporary ! There was also a cupboard which housed an iron and ironing board. The bed seemed to be a large single, with crisp white sheets and duvet cover. The mattress was very comfy. There was a flat screen TV and a keyboard (not sure what that was for) and a telephone. The buffet breakfast restaurant (on the LG floor) however, alas was a disappointment. The breakfast, I was told, usually cost a very grand total of £25 !! (although I paid £12.60 thru Laterooms.com). I still thought this was a hefty amount for what you got. The decor, I was very disappointed (compared to the rest of the hotel). It reminded me of an eating place at an army barracks - with many white melamine tables and hard chairs. It looked extremely "cold" and unwelcoming. To be fair, the buffet was set out with many separate bays ie toast/breads/jams/croissants; then cereals/fresh juices/yoghurts; then hot food sausages (incl. veggie), bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, baked beans and mushrooms. The top sausages were stone cold, while the ones underneath were swimming in oil; all the fried eggs were crispy around the edges and all the toast seemed cold and burnt. The positive station was where a chef stood making fresh omlettes and pancakes ! Tea and coffee were brought to your table. I was annoyed that everytime I went up to a station to choose an item, my table had been cleared ! This happened twice to me ! The whole area was very echoey and loud and wished I had gone to McDonalds for a breakfast there ! All in all though I would definitely stay there again (but won't bother with the breakfast)!
Room Tip: If you want a room with a view - be aware they will be very noisy with the constant stream of traffic - otherwise have a room "without" a view to be in peace and quiet !
Stayed January 2012, travelled solo
Had to be moved to different room twice
first room had a messy and defective bathroom window - which had had a towel stuck in a hole to stop the draft - however the room was cold because of it
second room had a defective heating system ie blew cold air only
maintenance couldnt fix it
so moved to another room which was ok
peter
The perfect location and accommodation for shopper.
Summary
Overall the hotel was of a good standard and excellent location. It was Rhodes restaurant we felt disappointed with, not the food, the service, the atmosphere and standards. Grubby glasses, had to ask for appropriate cutlery, poor clearing of the table, lack of being told of special meals and noisey atmosphere. Room very hot with poor air con.
Summary
Bedding and towels were very clean - the problem was the carpets were very dusty and not clean.
We found old socks under the bed with a pile of dust.
