Business Trip

The hotel is ideally situated for central Croydon. Access is awkward due to road repairs. Rooms on the front of the hotel are subject to draught and noise from windy conditions. The buffet was excellent value for money and the choices offered is one of the best I have experienced.

V. Good

Except for being given someone else’s room at first (found someone’s luggage in my room!) and the hotel attempting to charge twice I was very happy with the hotel, pool and the breakfast.

Excellent Value

The hotel is ideally placed for East Croydon station (a 15 minute train journey to Victoria) in the heart of central Croydon and it's plenty of bars and restaurants. An extra £5 to park in the secure car park is not excessive, but if you arrive after 6pm and will be gone by 8am, on-street parking is cheaper.
The room was to a high standard and service was quick and friendly, but professional. No criticisms I can make, very good value for the area.

Staffing levels need improving. Waited 15 mins to check in as only one receptionist on duty. Same situation in bar.
Room smelt as if it had been occupied by smokers. Usual problem with batteries in TV remote Don't hotels ever check these ??] Problems with shower.

Needs updating. Exec room did not even have a safe. Room was pokey. Food kept running out St breakfast and staff were slow to refill the trays of food. There were no glasses for juice and the staff did not notice. Used to be a top class hotel back in the day. Very sad to see how it has declined.
Only saving grace was that the staff on reception were friendly, professional and helpful.

Seemed a nice hotel

Arrived late at night so didn’t use any facilities at the hotel. Room was big, comfy and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking is a little confusing (round the back of the hotel and down a side street - it will make sense if you stay there!) but at least its free, secure and plenty of places.

We stayed for one night, we found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. The room was of a good standard however the bedside table and lamp were very dusty, We booked a double room and found the bed was two singles zipped together which dipped in the middle. We were also in a front facing bedroom and there was quiet a lot of noise from many police sirens and passing drunks once the pubs shut.
We had breakfast, which was buffet style with a very good selection.
Even after the negatives to this hotel we would use it again and it was very good value for money, very close to the station, therefore giving excellent access to London.

We went down to breakfast at 09.30 (it finished at 10.30) we had to wait for cooked food as there was none left, if all came out at different intervals and was either cold or under cooked apart from the sausages which were over cooked, not a plesant weekend breakfast

Croydon Park Hotel - short stay

Stayed for 2 nights in July 2011. Hotel lobby very 1970's but staff at reception very helpful. This was a good job as had to move for second night due to very loud people in next room shouting all night and a bus driver repairing his bus till 4am outside the hotel - repairing the engine with a hammer!
Pool small but warm, and lockers out of action. Breakfast Ok, but not sure about the green tinted photos in the dining room. Overall not bad value for money.

Hotel is only 200m from East Croydon train station, which is only 15 minutes on train from London bridge. So, convenient for Central London, if you don't want to actually stay in central London. Executive double room was Ok, better than budget hotels but only average quality for hotels used by business travellers. Room on 4th floor was quiet enough, clean, with good DVD player through mid-sized flat-screen TV. I would stay again if price was under £140 B&B.

Altough the room was clean and tidy our experiance of the reception staff was dispicable

Upon arrival we tried to check in only to be told that i hadn't booked a room for myself and my husband even though i had booked two rooms through yourselves at the same time they wouldn't accept this and proceeded to tell us they had no avaible rooms it took us a long time of haggling with a very rude member of the reception staff for her to realise that it was her unable to pronounce the surname correctly even having shown her our credit card with the spelling on.On the sunday morning we had to queue for the breakfast foods to come out as they couldn't keep up with the demand, and upon check out we had registered our credit card the night before for drinks they supposedly took off our card but were reluctant to give my husband a reciept eventually when they did they had actually charged us twice for the drinks we'd had in the bar late the night before. So all in all the whole experiance was so very poor and would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!!!!!

Room
Stayed in the deluxe double. A room is just a room really. Was a bit suprised rather than a double bed we had two singles pushed together with the sheet over it to try and disguise it. Room was clean. Good tv and sofa in room.
Staff
Very pleasant and friendly. Maybe the leisure staff might have been able to smile and when asked one of them to look into a slight problem with the jacuzzi rather than get off his desk and walk 20 yards to see if maybe he knew what it was before thinking it was something that needed more attention he just shrugged and said hed let someone know. Hmm.
Food
Breakfeast buffet had a huge variety - good 3 hours time frame too and staff friendly if not a bit military like in the way they seated you and greeted you. Maybe something a bit more casual then thinking it was the Ritz you was attending with the president might be better.
Pool and jacuzzi and sauna
Pool was small - probably half the size of a normal standard pool. jacuzzi was first class if not a bit tempermental on one occasion. The Saunas strangely enough were located inside the changing rooms which was a shame as not sure why couldnt have been pool side to have a view and ease to reach them rather then being in the sauna and the view you get is people changing outside them, There is also a free squash court too which is a bonus.
Thai massage
The thai massage was ok - bit pricey for what it is and the women was nice enough i- didnt find it helped that much but each to their own.
We paid £189 for 2 nights on sat and sunday and were totally satisfied with the service and cost. Not sure if we would go back too soon but wouldnt put anyone off going there

The pictuers displayed on late rooms do not match the room i had, you need to pay an additional £10 to £20 for a refurbished room. I wasnt made aware of this but only noticed on my check out.
Food in the bar was very average dispite claiming "home made burger" it was the kind of burger you would get in a cheap pub - pint glass was also dirty!
All the staff where very freindly which is a credit to the hotel.

Excellent hotel

I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly, room very spacious with 2 relaxing chairs and a small table. Food at the hotel was fantastic!! and definately worth booking the 2night special which included breakfast and excellent buffet evening meal, (our children are the fussiest ever and they absolutely loved it.) The two night special also includes a day family pass for the trains and buses free) The pool and gym we used alot and found it very clean and enjoyable. The car park was free, and the train station 200yrds which was only a ten minute journey to Victoria Train Station. The only disadvantage was the mattresses are very firm but not the worst. We had an excellent stay and will return!

AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE

A lovely hotel situated very close to the railway station (5 mins walk). Pleasant staff. Easy booking in and checking out system. Superb room service with excellent food choices. The breakfast was one of the best that I have ever had. Huge comfortable bed, although the room at the back of the hotel was noisy due to fans that went on all night long - maybe this was the hotel's laundry or air con system??? (The receptionist the following morning wasn't too sure either!) If I stayed there again I'd ask for a room overlooking the front of the hotel as it was a nice quiet road. A pleasant experience. The only thing that I was disappointed with was that there is no beauty therapist available for appointments on a Saturday and Sunday unless this is booked in advance (i.e. by appointment only). I did look on the hotel's website prior to travelling there and there is no provision (or telephone number) to book in advance.

Bed and breakfast stay

The hotel was situated very close to the train station, we paid for a delux room which I thought was very poor and would have liked to have seen a normal room. The previous resident had immobilised the smoke alarm in our room and it stank of cigarette smoke, the walls are paper thin and the other residents were very noisy all night so it would be down to luck iff you get a good nights sleep. On the plus side the staff were all very helpful, the food at the bar and at breakfast was excellent and everything was clean

My room's decor and amenities were dated. Some of the lights didn't work. The heating system was very noisy / dated which meant you either couldn't sleep because of the cold or because of the noise. A lot of ther other guests staying there had the same experience.
The restaurant food was very limited especially if you are vegetarian like me. The service was also poor. They forgot my order and then the bill even though there were only about 10 people in the restaurant. I also requested to pay for my room on arrival as I was in a rush in the following morning. However, they were unable to do this. The following morning they also responded to phone calls before the people trying to check-out. This service was more that expected in a 2-3 star not a 4 star hotel.
Overall this is the worst 4 star hotel I have stayed in. However, in terms of location it is excellent - walking distance to East croydon station and the main high street.
