Summary
This looks like it was once quite a grand place, but it is certainly a bit dilapidated now. It's perfectly ok for a traveler on their own though and for the price much better than a Travelodge. My room was a bit run down but it was clean and warm. Only one channel on the TV but didn't bother complaining as I wasn't that bothered and had my radio anyway. Breakfast was fine if you just want toast and cereals. Orange juice and coffee were ok, the juice didn't seem watered down as in some reviews. Dinner had a really limited choice but my curry was tasty and under a £5 and beer is under £3 a pint. Free car park right outside. Staff were friendly enough but you do need to come to places like this without expecting Hilton or Marriott levels of customer service. Pay £150 a night for a room if you want to feel like somebody who can afford £150 a night for a room (and £10 to park you car) , or spend £30 a night and use the other £120 for something else. As long as you get a good night's sleep, feel safe and don't go hungry, who cares if the towel rail is loose or there isn't a proper wardrobe??
Summary
The room was nice but noisey -the generator for the heating was on all night and the car park was noisey at 7 am with all the cars leaving. The shower flooded downstairs and the breakfast was awful. No choice of teas just cornflakes and white bread.Wifi had to be purchased at one pounds a time. The common parts were dirty ie the stairs and landing.shame as the room was nice.
Summary
The room was extremely small, the bed was unmade and dirty. The electrics (lighting) were not operating correctly.
The staff were friendly, however - I had to "prove" the room was as stated above with a final acceptance that the electrics(lighting) was not operating correctly! I was provided with another room which was acceptable. However, from a customer care perspective, it is the height of bad manners when staff behind reception speak in an alternative language to each other when you are trying to resolve an issue..................!
The hotel was horrendous arrived in the evening so it was dark had to park in the back of hotel which had no lightning pot holes was really not happy about leaving my car there, then i went to check in there was loads of workmen, had to go back to my car as i forgot my purse, came back and a carry bag that had my phone sat nav etc had gone missing, was eventually handed back by workmen, walking to room oh my god carpets worn and torn smelly dirty, room itself was ok must have had a recent refit, nice bathroom, breakfast i dont think you can call tea and toast breakfast
Summary
Moved to another hotel in chain as Croydon Court was full of people made homeless in riots. As we had only booked within the last few days I would have thought they would know they were full before we arrived! Stayed instead at Queens Hotel which was fine. Room large enough but only one pillow each and they were dreadful!

Having read reviews I was desperately trying to find an alternate hotel, I am so glad that I didn't. Value for money, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. English breakfast was cooked to perfection and tasty. They even accommodated my fussy eating children.
