At 9 o'clock on a Sunday morning nearly all the hot breakfast buffet trays were depleted, and what was available was rather greasy. A fifteen minute wait for a poached, or fried, egg is not acceptable. By the time I had finished my breakfasy most of the trays were still not replenished.

Our room was on the fourth floor on the front of the hotel which overlooked the main road, although the windows were double glazed, there was some road noise and it got a bit rowdy later when people were leaving the pubs, but not too bad. Apart from that we had no complaints at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was lovley and the bed was really comfortable and big. The bathroom was really modern and the whole place was very clean and well kept. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back no problem.

Very nice hotel, very clean rooms. My only comment would be that not one member of staff was English so customer service suffered slightly. All very friendly, just didnt seem 100% as if they knew what they were doing. I imagine this is typical of a lot of hotels in London.
Location was very good with a car park opposite (as the hotel has 7 spaces). Car park is 20 for 24 hours.
Would stay there again though very happily.

We found the hotels location Ideal for the London marathon and travelled mostly by bus which could not have better with 100,s of buses passing the hotel on a regular basis on route to Liverpool st ,just down the road. The room was first class in a contempory setting, with brick lane and it's many hip bars and restaurants a stones throw away. We found the hotel via late rooms on the internet and would have no qualms staying at Shoreditch in the future, perhaps 2010 virgin London marathon as my daughter has decided to enter again, what an event!

Excellent customer service and comfortable well appointed room. We even had a viee over the city. The location is fantastic for seeking out the riches of the east end; Brick Lane, Spittalfields, Columbia Rd. Equally Old St and liverpool St stations and a number of buses are all nearby making the rest of London accessible.

This hotel was booked by my PA, at short notice as I had to extend my stay in London. I arrived to check after a long day and was greeted with "we don't have your booking". I pulled out my iphone and showed them my confirmation email and she said "that is not the correct price". I stated that, that was the price I had booked and confirmed via laterooms and the receptionist continued to argue with me and refused to let me check in at that rate. First she wanted to charge me full price (299) and then said she'd do me the rate (129) I had booked but plus VAT! In the end I had to call my PA who spoke to laterooms (very, very helpful, can't praise laterooms enough) and they called the hotel direct. It took 35 mins to sort out and all that time I was stood at reception with a queue forming behind me.
So, not the best start!
However, the hotel is very good and can't be faulted from this point. I put in a complaint direct to the Duty Manager who was very apologetic, confirmed that was the correct rate and sent me a letter of apology and box of chocolates up to my room. From that point my stay was pleasant and I will be using the hotel for future trips. I spend about 3 days a week in London and this will be my hotel of choice. I just hope they get a new receptionist!

This hotel was ok - nothing great - but ok. I was a bit disappointed when i checked in to be given a smoking room (didnt realise hotels actually did such things) in a corridor surrounded by others. The room and corridor didnt smell good as had a heavy air-'freshener' to cover the previous smoke smells. I asked to be changed room, which to be fair I was without any problem, but begs the question - why wasn't I asked initally whether I wanted a smoking or non somking room? Aside from that the hotel was fine, it was clean and comfortable. The only other comment I have is that for a new-ish hotel, the decor of the rooms is a bit dated already.

Excellent hotel if you get it at the right price. We upgraded by 20 a night when we got there (offer was prominent on the desk) and got a super deluxe room and breakfast included (as breakfast is 16 on its own it was well worth it) as well as use of the club room with free afternoon canapes, wine, fruit and water. Not a pretty hotel but very convenient for Hoxton/Shoreditch area and the city with a bus stop outside that went to everywhere and if you wanted to walk its 10 minutes to Liverpool st with 2 supermarkets and a 7/11 shop 2 minutes walk away. Nice reception staff with good english and lovely rooftop restaurant for breakfast with good views. Immaculate bathrooms.

Hotel is approx. 7 min walk from Liverpool st. tube, perfect if you arrive with Stansted express or the bus from Stansted. Check-in went smoothly and we were given a very pleasant room on 2nd floor towards the back. The room was very quiet, the beds quite comfortable and with the curtains closed you could get it completely dark, so we definately slept well. The bathroom was quite large but both the bathroom and room could do with some more hooks to hang up coats, robes, etc. The shower pressure was OK.
We bought vouchers at check-in for breakfast (9.90 pounds). The breakfast room is light and airy with a fabulous view of London. The buffet was tasty and fresh and even as a vegetarian there were several options. The breakfast staff were very kind and attentive.
If you are looking to stay in the East end, this is a very good choice. There is a bus stop outside, so in 20 minutes you can be in Oxford Street. The east end, particulary Hoxton, is an upcoming area with many interesting cafs, boutiques, restaurants and bars. The best Indian food outside of India can be found close by at Brick Lane. The St. Gregory is a solid, comfortable and exceptionally clean hotel that I would recommend to all. The only things missing were Plasma TV's in the rooms and the lighting in the vestibule lounge was just too bright.

Arrived and was told they dont have details of my booking. I witnessed the same situation with at least two other hoteliers on the same day! Had to go into my email and show them proof after which they accommodated me. Parking is hell on Sunday due to market. Room is described as spacious but was very small. Good for price tho!

At check-in, the lady on reception wrinkled up her nose when I told her my name - I'm guessing that she just didn't understand what I'd said first time as my surname is quite unusual, but I felt she could have handled that a bit better. It made them seem disapproving and was not a great first impression. Such a small thing really but certainly room for improvement.
The room itself was lovely - a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Beautifully decorated. I thought this was a real gem of a hotel though others should be warned that the surrounding area doesn't seem all that inviting at first look. Bbut don't panic, a short stroll up Kingsland Road (come out of the hotel and turn right) will lead to a number of very reasonable Vietnamese restaurants and several trendy understated bars.
My only issue with the whole stay was the extremely eager housekeeping lady. Check-out was at midday but we were woken up by her before 9am and then she came in again an hour later. Thinking about it, I would recommend the use of a do not disturb sign on the door, but I can't remeber seeing one. Regardless, we would definitely consider a return visit.

The only single problem with this hotel is that the staff on the front desk seem rather unfriendly and defensive, and some even seem to not be able to understand English fully.
Unfortunately these things do make quite a big impression.
The cleaning staff are absolutely excellent. Nearest tube (at the time of visit) Liverpool St., Hotel staff advised it was a 10 min walk, but it was further, especially if carrying luggage. Had they given a clearer estimate I'd happily have caught one of the frequent buses. I enjoyed the hotel, clean & bright with useful room facilities inc. internet access with or without PC. Bed comfy (double) and room seemed more spacious than I have experienced in London. Laterooms rate meant it came within my budget.

We found the hotel to be great, breakfast was all you can eat for 27.90 per couple with a great selection of food. If you go to the theatre get a taxi as it was less than 10 to the the Aldwych Theatre. The tube was a bit of a walk at the the end of the night back to the hotel and cost 4 per person. The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms are quite modern with all you need in them, with an expensive mini bar. Also you will find a cocktail bar on the 7th floor which we didnt discover until breakfast. We did however get the rooms for only 60 per room, which for this hotel was excellent value. would recommend and deffinately use St gregory again.

The hotel was a good walk from the nearest tube station and at the weekend there is not alot to do in the immediate area as it is on the edge of the financial district. the hotel was very clean and quiet though. Breakfast was not included and we preferred going to a Greasy Spoon than paying a lot for a roll and croissant at the hotel. In fact we did not have any extras so cannot comment on the price of the bar etc.

We stayed one night and it was great laterooms value - compared to similar hotels nearby on various websites I checked. Staff were efficient & helpful and the room service was prompt with tasty food. Enjoyed a comfortable 3 night stay at the St. Gregory from Boxing Day. Smart modern hotel with friendly staff. Just one drawback was the restaurant being closed for dinner for the week after Christmas, which it would have been helpful to know in advance. My birthday was on the 26th and for convenience thought we might dine in the restaurant. Having said that because the hotel is so convenient, finding an alternative wasn't too difficult. There weren't too many guests in the hotel which did make it a little soulless - but the compensation was a blissfully tranquil stay! The little 'retro' bar is lovely , but watch out for the 'hotel price' drinks - double what you'd pay in a west end bar.
In short - lovely hotel, great staff, convenient location - possibly more geared to the business traveller with an expense account - but who's complaining. Would definitely return.

Excellent room for Central London at a very reasonable price. Spacious, clean and newly kitted out. Not the nicest location and not much of interest within half a mile of hotel, but within 15 mins you can walk to the City where you can find decent pubs and restaurants. Of course this is also a big plus if you are here on business. Would definitely stay again when working in the City.
