This was convenient and very good accommodation.

The only problem (and we considered it a major one) was that we were unable to open the bedroom window and let in fresh air.

Lovely Hotel

This weekend was a treat from my son for mother's day and my birthday. The weather was atrocious but the hotel was lovely! Room was excellent and had all facilities. Beds were very comfy so I slept well which was unusual for me. Only problem was when we booked in , my son and I were allocated a double room and not a twin as requested. The receptionist changed it though.
Breakfast was ok but toaster was a pain and didn't toast bread sufficiently ad if you ran it through again it burnt! Needs attention! Coffee wasn't very hot! I was a bit disturbed the way the person who oversaw the staff on the Monday morning was speaking to his staff! He actually took one member of the team to one side to reprimand him for talking! I felt sorry for the lad! This should be done out of earshot of customers. Bit unnerving the way he kept milling round as well!

Nice location, good hotel - at the right price

If you can get this hotel at a good rate on late rooms then I would happily recommend it for it's location, good accomodation and facilities. Only problem was one that is all too common, hot rooms and locked shut windows with not adequate enough air conditioning.

Hot stay

Checking in on arrival was straight forward and the staff member was welcoming. The view from the room was superb as we were on the 12th floor in club accommodation. We stayed overnight and found the room very hot even tho we turned the air con down as low as it would go. As we only stayed one night we did not complain. Also the water pressure in the bathroom was low meaning flushing the toilet was an effort.
Breakfast which was included was good and plentiful and the Club lounge was restful. It was very convenient for the Royal Albert Hall which was the reason for our stay.

Good for city breaks

Food in this hotel also very good value for money. Breakfast at £10 good value and the cuisine at Bugis Street excellent. Rooms could perhaps do with a little tlc but overall the staff position and value for money outweigh the negatives.

Tara Copthorne, Kensington

The Hotel staff were friendly and accomodating, upgrading us to a club room on arrival without us asking. The bedroom was a good size but the bathroom and decor was a "bit tired". Although we were on the 11th floor, the lifts were spacious and very quick.
The main hotel, bars and sitting areas were comfortable and facilities good.
The breakfast was excellent, good quality and plenty of choice and value for money. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would return.

Clean, good quality accommodation but some staff issues!

Smooth check in, good quality furnishings and furniture, spacious room, nice and clean. A bit too warm in the room with indecipherable air conditioning controls! Breakfast in the morning was good quality but pricey and the dining room service was great, but there was one particular member of staff (the lady who greeted the guests into the dining room) who was inattentive and paused mid-sentence in her dealings with me to have an in-depth discussion with a colleague about another couple of guests and their coffee request. while I was standing around waiting and running late to boot!! How rude! Her colleague looked very uncomfortable at her behaviour, however, and the rest of the staff's service was outstanding, particularly the gentleman who I assumed was the manager of the dining room or the maitre d' or equivalent.

Outside view does not do it justice

I stayed in for just the 1 night whilst my wife took a doctors exam in Kensington Town Hall. When we checked in we were given a free upgrade from double room to club room on the 11th floor (no idea why) and a complimentry breakfast (saved £24). Great view from the room over London. Tube train tracks were directly below but with the soundproofed windows we could barely hear it. Very spacious room with lots of storage. Good decor throughout. Best thing was the food which we had delivered to our room. Nachos, wedges, melted mozerella wrap and apple pie all beautifully presented and delicious for £25. We used their parking facility overnight but were only charge £15 as oppossed to the £32 listed. Excellent hotel for the price, don't be put off by the grubby looking exterior.

Stay at Copthorne Tara for 3 nights to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday

As we were celebrating my husbands birthday we went to our room to drop off our luggage and went back down to the bar where we had a drink and a bite to eat. I had a white wine spritzer to drink and was surprised when there was no ice in the drink and the soda was flat (in a place this size I would have thought that the soda would have been on tap, not from a plastic bottle). The burger that we had was fine. When we went back to our room it was quite late and we went straight to bed when suddenly, very close by, we could hear trains! On looking out of our window we were right next to the underground railway lines and trains were passing every 60 seconds! They didn't stop running until 1.00 a.m. and started up again at 4.45 a.m. so we had quite a sleepless night. We told reception and they moved us straight away. They were very pleasant about it and we were given a room on the other side of the hotel which was much better. On the night of my husbands birthday, we were going to go into the restaurant for dinner only to find that they had run out of steak! The Concierge directed us to a very nice Italian restaurant which was within walking distance of the hotel.
Back at the hotel we were given vouchers to use in the bar (15% off) and vouchers for breakfast which made it very good value for money. Breakfast should have been £17 per person for a full English, but with the vouchers it cost £10 per person and it was buffet style so you choose anything ranging from cereals, full English, fruit, toast, continental etc. etc.
The only real downside to this hotel was the trains, so if you are considering staying here, make sure you are on the right side of the hotel!

Nice accomodation and hotel centrally situated

Location - nicely situated very close to Kensington High street tube. We had a good view of the City from the 9th floor Room. Food was good and we would certainly return in the future. Just a tip - coming out of the hotel, turn left, walk 2 blocks to Allen street, turn right and 50 yards up the road on the left is a wonderful pub, The Britannia, Food was great, not expensive and Mike Ireland, our attendant went out of his way to ensure that we were satisfied with the experience. A gem close by the hotel - 5 minutes walk.
