A lovely receptionist greeted me, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I asked for a nice room. She offered "new style" or "old style"...plumped for old style and have to say , what a fantastic room / suite...the viceroy suite I think it was called. Didn't manage to sample the breakfast as overslept after a late night, my bad. Beauitiful, a little peaceful haven in a busy city, and the one member of staff we met was lovely too. Would certainly stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights on a business trip. The first thing to note is that there is no lift! If you are elderly or have difficulty with stairs - beware - although there is a porter to help with your luggage. The room was traditionally furnished - old furniture, heavy curtains etc.. The carpet was hoovered but heavily stained and I'd suggest you need to keep shoes on! The bathroom was very dimly lit over the sink - so not great for trying to put make-up on! Also poor plumbing in the sink meant you had to wait a good while for the sink to empty! Had breakfast delivered to my room which was basic - a glass of juice, cereal or fruit segment, rolls and tea/coffee. Overall - I'd say an average hotel.

I really liked this hotel - my son and I shared a twin room for one night. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the accommodation excellent for the price. The room had recently been redecorated, shame they painted over the damp plaster without sealign it first (not a big problem !!) I will stay there again

i stayed at the hotel for 2 nights with my son on a trip to London, the situation of the hotel is excellent and about a 5 min walk to the tube. the hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. We stayed in a twin room which for the price we thought was small! also the window blind was broke, the air con/heater we couldn't get to work and the carpet was in need off renewing. other than that OK

Rooms in main part of hotel are well appointed and modern. The otherside of the hotel is much older and the rooms are a bit tired. The bar is comfy and relaxing. Breakfast is basic but ok. Could do with more fruit...

not very impressed with hotel, our room was a designated smoking room which we were unaware of and it smelled quite stale. TV was old and dated, poor choice of sky channel and poor quality reception. the room was not worth the money we paid per night even at the discounted rate. some of the bathroom fittings were loose and parts of the bathroom were grubby and mouldy. overall the hotel is quite small and cramped. it is reasonably well located but there is very little lobby space. the decor could be improved for a ? 4* quality hotel. the dining room is downstairs in the cellar which was small and cramped. it was extemely busy with people having to wait and queue in the corridor to be seated. when we were eventually seated the service was poor, quality of food less that satisfactory and again the buffet was small and cramped, bumping shoulders as you are trying to put food on your plate.

Excellent customer service, when I inadvertantly left an item in the room they had kept it and sent in on for me a week later. The twin room was small, as hotel rooms in London tend to be, but was sympathetically furnished and clean. Very small lifts!

Easy to find and idea for touring or shows. Underground very close and recommend a zone 1 and 2 ticket at just under 6 to use the tube all day to get around, especially after a show to get back to the Hotel as the roads do get grid locked.
Hotel very friendly did find the restaurant for breakfast very warm so on our last night we opted for breakfast next morning in the room. Bar prices are quite deer 4 a pint and over 6 for a Gin and Tonic. Close to shops and also local pubs near by.

The Commodore Hotel is of the worst hotels I have ever seen. The reception staff are careless and not polite. The corridores in the hotel are like medieval underground prisons! The Prices are very high and unjustified. The Hotel is nice from the outside but quite the opposite inside.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I paid slightly more for the executive room and it was well worth it. The room was spacious, clean and well laid out. The staff were friendly, the breakfast good and the location in a quiet street across from Hyde Park, close to a tube station and to Paddington, was convenient.

Very convenient location for a dinner I was attending at another local hotel. I didn't eat at the hotel, and as breakfast doesn't get serverd until 07:00 I missed this in the morning.
Overall very pleased, I have stayed in many other hotels in London with smaller rooms and less pleasant surroundings

This was very disappointing. The rooms were small and tired albeit the bed linen was nice. Old style tellies, cramped rooms. furniture falling to pieces and outdoor deck was grubby and uncared for. There was no hot breakfast and poor parking

This is a London sort of place, old-fashioned but charming, a few creaky stairs, like a little home from home. My room was very comfortable and clean, the food was lovely, the staff friendly and professional. The hotel is in a perfect position, 5 minutes from Hyde Park so you can take a 20 minutes walk through the park to Marble Arch and Oxford St (fabulous shops) or you can catch the tube (5 mins) and go anywhere in London or walk the other way to the little shops at Lancaster Gate (5 mins) where there are a few nice little restaurants and pubs. I am not sure about "family friendly" - if this means playgrounds etc, these are all in Hyde Park. My room wouldn't have been big enough for a cot etc, but I think they have bigger rooms. The stairs might be a problem but there is a lift. I will definitely stay at the Commodore next time I'm in London.
