Clean and functional, just don't expect any character.

The room was exactly as stated: a single bed, clean, tidy, TV, shower. The hotel is by a busy road and the windows not that well insulated so you can always hear the rumble of traffic. The doors are very thinso I could everyone walking or talking down the corridor outside and even conversations and the TV in the room opposite.

You get what you pay for in London

Booked 2 nights in a single comfort room at a rate of £77 per night. Having stayed at this hotel before, the big plus side is the location for anyone working and travelling around central london being some 5 minutes walk to vauxhall bridge.
Last time I stayed was in a twin room located on the rear side of the hotel and was satisfied with the accomodation. Booked a single rom this time and thought paid a reasonable cheap price for centralish London. Unfortunately hadnt realised they had built and single story ground floor extension to the foot of the pavement on South Lambeth road. The room was tiny, with a single bed in the corner, en suite with one of these plastic pods, once showered, everything in the bathroom was soaking. You couldnt open the window as the traffic noise a roar and security would of been an issue. Even with the window shut, the traffic noise started from about 0500. All in all stay here if your booking a double/twin room and ask for the rear of the hotel. See a bargin for central london for a single room ? Dont forget you get what you pay for

Just what is on the tin

A really nice stay. Exactly what was requested (Which is rare in my experience). Everry bit worth the circuitous walk from Vauxhall station. Reception was extremely helpful, evn if local traders were not..
Hotel went out of its way to deliver guest services, assisting with baggage storage andf late arrival graciously.

Good last minute accommodation

The hotel was clean and in a good location for me so worked out well when I suddenly needed a place to stay. Overall good, but a bit over priced for the amenities provided especially in a single room. Desk staff varied for being polite and helpful to minimally friendly. Probably won't stay here again because I can find similar accommodation (or better) for a much more reasonable price.

I expected a very basic room

I did get a very basic room which I expected, but expected a little cleaner, the carpet was dirty and the room was very hot, although, the hotel went out of there way to give me a car park space which I was very grateful for, but for the price expected a little more! Thank you anyway! I would stay with you again if I was given a nicer room and essential car parking space!

Comfort Inn

It was expensive compared to hotels outside of London but then again this is London. The room was of a good size and was clean and warm though the central heating was a little noisy. The bathroom was of a generous size and didn't smell of musty shower or sink drains and displayed no evidence of the usual ubiquitous black mould, which was a pleasant surprise! The room we had faced away from the main road and was resonably quiet at night. There could well be more street noise on a hot summer night. Parking seemed expensive at an additional £20 however this has to be weighed against the City parking fees of £9.50 for 4 hours after which the car had to be moved to another zone.Leaving a car at night on the side steets did not seem to be a sensible option. The car park was screened by the hotel from the main road and was easy to access. Breakfast was reasonable, continental style, and unlimited though the dining room did get a bit hetic in the last hour and a half..we found that getting there earlier was more convenient. Some cheese and ham slices accompanied the ususal bread and pastries. There was also a heated tray of baked beans for the more discerning palettes? Cutlery and plates were not conveniently placed as they were under the counter which held the food and these were difficult to access when the room was busy. Staff were polite and helpful when asked and non intrusive, ideal in a hotel of this type. The Hotel was also within easy walking distance of several cafe's and restaurants and all night shops.

Comfort Inn stay 11 October

The accommodation was adeqaute though the "compact" bathroom was "bijou" in the extreme and would be a problem for anyone overweight.
My main issue was that as a woman travelling alone I had been allocated a room on the ground floor - surely this should be against hotel policy and I was not impressed.
I would not stay in a Comfort Inn again and do not think it gave value for money (I only stayed as other hotels in area I usually stay in all full)

Room and bathroom spacious and immaculately clean, very comfortable bed. However, on arrival, reception staff were very rude and tried to put me in a small single room despite my having booked a double. They also tried to claim that breakfast wasn't included when I had added this as an additional extra to my booking through laterooms.com. Breakfast looked totally unappetising anyway so went elsewhere.

Try and find somewhere else

The hotel was very clean and conveniently situated for central London. However, as a previous reviewer has said, the traffic noise is very loud and my sleep was disturbed several times on each of the two nights I stayed there. I am not usually a light sleeper but the fact that I was so easily awoken was due perhaps to the extremely uncomfortable mattress on my bed - lumpy and with the springs having gone in several places. One of the deciding factors for me choosing this hotel was that it was advertised as having wi-fi in each room (the implication being that it was included in the room charge). Yes it did, but they forgot to say that they wanted to charge extortionate fees, higher for a 24 hour period than I pay at home for a month. Considering that the total charge for staying two nights was £274 I found this unacceptable. I do not recommend this hotel. (I travel frequently at home and overseas for business and pleasure and this is the first time I have been moved to write a review of a hotel).

Mixed feeling!

I got a good impression straight after walking into the lobby. my mission started when we found out our door key lock battery was gone and every time we needed to go to our room we had to explain the story to the receptionist and beg them to open the bloody door for us to get in to a room (we have paid a fortune for)after a long day in London! there was about 5 different receptionists over the two days I stayed there and no one actually bothered to change the bloody battery until I lost my temper!
very poor customer service...they treated us to a complementary breakfast after the door problem! and fixed the door, but I would certainly not call it a breakfast! the selection included toasts and some jam and margrin scattred around a table kid of in the hotel main lobby area- very very basic and poor! I would not certainly pay for their breakfast! just go to vauxhal bridge , find a mcdonalds or costa and avoid the horrible comfort inn experience.
there is a tv in the room but only 4 random channels! and the tv is very small. the shower was clean but not comfortable and also our washing liquid was broken and we didnt have soup or any kind of washing up stuff for a day -we had to wait for the cleaner came and fixed it! certainly it was an absilute inconvenience.
It is slightly cheaper than other 3 star hotels- but perhaps because comfort inn in my opinion is far from even 1 star let alone 3 stars..... i dont know where they have got their stars from...!a starry night in vauxhal?
The location is not that close to tube/buses as well, it is 15 minute walk. on a busy street- no need to mention the "LIVE MUSIC" at the oppisite pub did not let me sleep till 4 am on a sunday night!
I will never go back to that hotel and would not recommend it to anyone unless i want them to have a horrible London experience.

The bar with no beer

The room was basic but clean and functional as you would expect in a budget hotel. the bar however was very poor. It was a Saturday evening and they had run out of beer. the wine was served in miniature bottles and we were not offered a glass. We had to request one as I am not sure that my wife and Mother in law wanted to drink it out of the bottle. They had also run out of crisps and snacks. Not good at the end of a busy day.

Excellent customer service and hospitality very much in line with the dearer hotels we have stayed at. The staff are friendly and helpfull and the room was very clean and tidy. Accessibilty is perfect (5 minute cab to Brixton Academy, and within walking distance of Vauxhall Station) Would most definately stay there again. The hotel offered us a complementary breakfast due to a slight inconvenience caused by a Van blocking our car for a very short space of time which was not their fault at all. 10 out of 10.

Nice hotel in good location.

The hotel was quite well located, being not far from Vauxhall station. We were located on the ground floor, which was good for us but although the room furnishings were comfortable and clean, there were 2 sets of patio doors which were draughty and didn't block out the noise from the very busy road outside. The children woke several times during the night and it was difficult for them to get back to sleep. Couldn't fault it apart from that and good for the price.

Ear plugs needed for sleeping

Rooms at The Comfort Inn do vary - if you are put at the front by the main road you will be woken by every lorry, motorbike and London sirens, it's a regular passage for the emergency services. At the back it is quieter and you have a chance of sleeping. Breakfast is basic, if you are used to Premier Inn you'll cry in your bran flakes. I gave up after being served cold baked beans once and go to Sainsbury's 5 mins walk away. It is used a lot by students who can be noisy - I stay there because of convenience, so close to our London office. Do ask for the upgrade to the Jaccuzi Room on arrival, if one is free you may be able to get it for £20 extra and it's far nicer. Staff are friendly.

Continental breakfast was just that but there was also small bowls of fruit and strangely "baked beans". It was very good value. Could hear everyone

We could hear everything that the people in the room next to us were doing and saying. We were staying there because we had planned an evening out at a club. The receptionists were quite cold, and for £140 a night, I would expect to made to feel a bit special. The bed was like a postage stamp, I am very tall, and I couldnt get comfortable in such a small bed. The car park was full when we got there and they didnt tell us that it needed to be booked, plus it was £20 a night!! If you are staying at the hotel why should you pay to park there? I was not really happy with the experiance we had here, it was literally a place to lay our head once we had been out, and we left early in the morning just to get out.
