Great Little Hotel

Hotel was clean friendly and welcoming.
You may find the rooms a little on the small side but then for the price you cannot argue, it is extremely good value for money and the staff are superb and cannot do enough to help you anytime of day or night.

Very basic

Cheap and unappealing. Had a basement room next to the communal kitchen/sitting room (you have to get your own breakfast). Thin walls so could hear every thing. However, excellet location next to DLR, free wifi and clean sheets. Its a budget hotel and you have to shift your mindset...

Nice little budget hotel

This is not the Ritz but you are not paying £300 a night!
The accommodation was basic but clean, the shower worked well and I was not disturbed by the DLR which runs next door to the hotel.
I will use this hotel again for my next trip to London.

Room too small !!!!!!

The room was too small and in a basement. We were told that we would get another room the next day but when we went to Reception and asked for a change, the man at the reception desk did not want to give us another room, so we have to stay in the same tiny, appalling room all the weekend.

CityStay Hotel Bow

After shopping at the new Westfield Centre, Stratford, the hotel was only a couple of stops on DLR. It was right next door to the station which was very convenient, althought the room I was allocated overlooked this and was very noisy. The room was very good - the only downside was there are no facilities in the room for making a drink - not even a glass for water! I had to go down several flights of stairs to the kitchen to get a hot drink.

Very Basic

Room was very basic, more like a cardboard box.... not even enough room to swing a cat in!!!
Staff were helpful, clean towels on a daily basis. (Well the two nights we were there).
We had to make our own breakfast..... a self service continental breakfast consisting of toast, bowls of cereal (shreddies... if you didn't like them you are snookered) or eggs... make your own!
When you go away you expect breakfast at least made for you.
In a noisy location, right on the main road.

Quiet, clean, priced right.

Very basic, small, very clean sleeping room with a modern en-suite bathroom, TV and heater. Only a short walk from Bow Road underground station; run by a friendly family. Fine for solo traveler or couple who are mostly out doing things and using the room to sleep and prepare for a day of sightseeing or business.

The hotel is located on a busy road and I stayed in a front room. It was noisy during the night and woke me up once. However a back room would obviously be better. The room was basic but very clean. The bed was comfortable but only one pillow per person was provided. The ensuite shower room was new. The shower was large and there was plenty of hot water. Self service breakfast is provided in a basement lounge/kitchen area. Plenty of food was provide. This was also a TV lounge with tea and coffee making facilities. Good value for money ,I will use it again.

- I asked the hotel how long it would take to reach them by tube from Paddington; they said 30 minutes by 205 bus; by 205 bus it took me 1 hour 20 minutes.
- They impose charges for using a _debit_ card, which I've never met anywhere else.
- The breakfast is DIY; breakfast materials and facilities are mediocre.
- The hotel is shabby.
- It's very handy for DLR, literally next door to the entrance to Bow Church station.

Citystay Hotel. Bow

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. The manager on reception was very helpful when I arrived and help me organise a pizza delivery. The room was modern and very clean, the only drawbacks as far as I can see is the lack of any coffee/tea making facility in the room (not even a plastic cup for water). However there was a kitchen in the basement to use. Also, if you're staying here make sure you pack a hair-dryer.
The hotel was very convenient for the underground and buses.

This hotel provides for a budget stopover. It's close to the DLR. Bow Church station.
Internet is provided all in and there is a kitchen to make tea coffee sandwiches toast etc. A basic breakfast is included too. So not too bad considering.
Considering I've stopped in places 3 times the price that have had more traffic noise. You should be fine here unless you really are a light sleeper.

Unfriendly would be an understatement, but the worst part was breakfast, which I still find hard to believe. If you want the breakfast you have paid for, you have to make it yourself and wash up your own cups and plates. And all this in a kitchen about 6' square and with all the other guests!!!
It should be rated as a hostel.

The room was clean, as was all bed linen and toilet but there was no cup to rinse your mouth or get a drink of water, there was no hot water at all in the morning. We got up at 9 so not sure if you got up earlier it would be ok. When we got up there was a lot of White dust over everything but we think this was because we left the room window open all night. Excellent position for underground and food, shops.

All in all the room was very clean and comfortable. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which I expect would be in all hotels these days. The sink in the en-suite was broken, but I didn't realise until I had washed and then was unable to drain the water. The room was booked as a double (en-suite) with breakfast included. I did not expect to be told when I arrived that you were to make your own breakfast and wash your own dishes. If I had known this prior to making the booking I may have looked elsewhere.

Very disappointed more youth hostel then a 'city stay hotel' !

Having stayed in many bed and breakfast establishments in London we were not expecting a hotel experience, we were however expecting a reasonable standard bed and breakfast . First impressions - the building was shabby with peeling paint, patches of damp and dirty carpets. We booked a double room for two nights only to be given a room with a double and a single bed with no explanations offered. The walls had been painted with an undercoat but not finished and now covered in streaks of dirt marks. Though we stayed for two nights our room was not serviced .
Customer service was basic to say the least we asked to be shown where the breakfast was served and from what time it was served, only to be told that there would be someone at reception in the morning and they would be able to explain everything. In the morning there was no one to be found so we followed the sound of voices to the basement which was in better condition then the rest of the building to find it was cook your own breakfast. Bread, eggs, fruit and biscuits were provided with standard basics such as milk, jam and margarine. All food items were from Tesco's value range . The kitchen is relatively small so if you are in a hurry and there are other guests then forget breakfast as you will have to queue for access to toaster, sink etc . On top of all this a sign asks you to wash up after yourself and put everything back !!!

Good location next to DLR but sirens on main road very noisy so avoid front rooms. Digital TV signal poor but Analogue TV OK. Self -service kitchen in basement provides bread jam cheese eggs fruit coffee tea milk and cereals for breakfast. Friendly people. Bank, petrol, Pub and Co-op close by. Slightly surreal.

The City Stay offers good budget value in a slightly surreal way. Finding someone asleep under a duvet behind the reception desk when leaving was enough to send me along Bow Road in an early morning daze. I couldn't face breakfast after finding the mugs were crusted the night before. Overall though you get what you pay for, and the value is self evident. The credit card charge is over the top, and having to ask for my change simply added to the experience!
