Staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was set in a warm homely lounge and everything was fresh and tasteful.
Very good hotel, if one does not mind being located south of the river away from the main tourist hotspots. Reliant on bus transfers to Elephant and Castle Underground station, which can take a long time during the rush hour.

Quirky, but good

Service is friendly and efficient. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The decor is interesting! The rooms are a bit on the small side, but probably what should be expected for the price and area. Breakfast is toast, preserves, pastries, etc and good coffee. Bottled water, but no tea or coffee making facitities in rooms. We have stayed there on three separate occasions and would stay there again.

London Marathon Hotel

We booked this hotel for the sole purpose that it was close to the start line for the London marathon 2012. The hotel room and decor was great, however I felt the service itself could have been better prepared when the Hotel must have known that many guests would be running the Marathon the next day. For example I asked the the hotel receptionist what would be the best form of transport to get to the start line in Greenwich .e.g. tube, taxi or bus, he had no idea and said the best thing to do would be to walk, the hotel was approximately 5.5 miles to Greenwich so not a good option before running a marathon! Also no information was provided as to where the best restaurant was to eat, for example there was an Italian restaurant just down the road serving great pasta dishes, perfect for the marathon. When I asked for some hot milk for my porridge in the morning the breakfast girl was excellent!

Brilliant Latin America themed Hotel

This hotel is a brilliant hotel with a good Latin American theme which is very unique. The rooms come equiped with high quality organic gifts from chocolate to toiletries. The breakfast is very good with fresh pastries locally sourced. The free coffee available in the dining room is amazing. Overall a great stay and I'll be returning soon.

Full of character

This is a good advert for boutique hotels. Decorated in a South American style it was a breath of fresh air for the business trip I was on. Complimentary Green and Blacks Chocolate and chilli sauce was a nice touch. My only gripe was that for the price I may have expected an en suite toilet/bathroom. There's a well regarded restaurant downstairs but I didn't book in time so can't comment.

Staff were welcoming & friendly, hotel truly boutique styling - none of your bland chain decor here (we loved it).
Lounge was perfect for relaxing - like being in a club (not nightclub). Excellent breakfast, also proper coffee whenever one wanted.
Free parking an extra bonus given the location!

Great Hotel and Staff

Choose this hotel as a last resort for a night out on Friday night in central London, Got there early with my car on Friday Afternoon, staff pointed to me to the off site parking, which was only 5-10 mins walk from hotel.
Room was very clean, the room had everything I needed for the weekend in London. 25 mins walk from elephant and castle tube station.
Dont have anything bad to say about this hotel :)

We very much enjoyed my stay at The Church Street Hotel. The quality of the rooms, the cleanliness and the customer service was far in excess of anything I had previously experienced. We especially loved the decor in the room and bathroom and the breakfast room/bar. We found the staff passionate about the hotel and they enjoyed communicating the owners passion and vision.

Delightful

I booked for us to overnight for a club event in nearby Brixton. The facilities named on the site were not all present but were found on request i.e. sewing kit. The room was small but adequate and beautifully decorated. Linens a high quality and very comfortable. Air con efficient and very quiet. 24/7 filter coffee from the lounge on a help yourself basis. The wardrobe needed longer hanging space but this was a minor point. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Our cab to the event was booked for us and proved to be very reasonable. We used them to return and on departure. I would use this hotel again happily.

Excellent little hotel - Hidden in plain view!

We were only staying in London for 1 night as we were seeing a band and didn't want to drive back for 2 hours after. We scanned the usual repetitive chain hotels and found that they were quite expensive and not particularly close to where we wanted to be, then we came across the Church Street Hotel. Price wise it matches the chain hotels, but what you get for that money is a quite, clean, excellently furbished hotel. Its almost hidden in plain view on the high street, and inside it is a maze of corridors each decorated with Mexican influenced themes. The room was quite small, and had a shared bathroom, however that wasn't a problem as we were only there for one night (We chose the small room with a shared bathroom for price reason - I don't think they are all like this) The customer service was excellent, very helpful and gave us a quick tour around to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent, very rustic and organic - No fry ups though sorry. The only snag was that it was quite far from any tube stations, but there were loads of buses around (I was just being too lazy to find out which one I needed)
I would absolutely recommend this hotel, rather than spending the same money on some mundane beige walls from a chain super-market, and will be staying here is I ever need to stay in the Capital again

What a wonderful, eclectic mix we found at this hotel. The room was wonderful, the attention to detail was exceptional. The accommodation was very comfortable, the breakfast was sumptuous and you were really made to feel at home. The location of the hotel is ideal for sight seeing in London. It is nice to dip in to the busy sight seeing and then pop back to the tranquility at the hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel and we will certainly be going back shortly.

Fantastic little hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I stay down in London almost every week so I've stayed in many hotels and this has been the best value for money so far. It's very different, in a good way, to the likes of a Thistle or Ibis i.e. this hotel has character and charm in bucket loads. It is done up in a Spanish style and each room is very different. There are lots of nice little touches like complementary Green and Blacks chocolate in your room every day and the breakfast room which is open all day to be used by guests. It's a really comfortable space with a honesty bar and complementary teas and coffees. The breakfast was really good (continental) although could have done with some fresh fruit. A bonus if you stay at this hotel is that they also own and run a tapas restaurant downstairs. They serve absolutely delicious tapas - best I've ever had. As I was on my own I sat at the bar and all the staff were lovely and friendly.

Charming and well-located

We thought that this hotel was in a great spot, even though it's off the tourist-track. We travelled easily to Shepherd's Bush, the Natural History Museum, Borough Market etc., and enjoyed the pubs and restaurants in Camberwell Green. It was also just as charming as promised by the photos, with real attention to detail. For London, and given that breakfast and free tea and coffee were included, it represented very good value for money. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was good. We will stay again next time we are in London.

How to review this hotel?

Probably the friendliest and most efficient and best presented hotel I've stayed in.
Room was great, even the shared bathroom wasn't too much of an issue.
But!
The thickness of the wall between my room and next door meant that I could hear every minute of the late night DVD's that the insomniac next door was listening too.
Now it's not the fault of the hotel that the guests want to watch TV till 2 or 3 in the morning, but if the hotel supplies DVD's and has converted rooms with such poor sound insulation between them then most of the blame does lie with them.
So although the hotel was great the primary reason for me for a night in a hotel is a good sleep and here I had two very poor nights.
Another room, another neighbour and maybe everything would have been perfect, but as it is I can't see me using the Hotel again, nor in my heart of hearts recommending it to friends or colleagues

Clean and Friendly

The hotel is very clean and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The Breakfast Room/ Honesty Bar is comfortable and we liked having our complimentary coffee and tea in there. The Spanish theme is really interesting but the different levels linked by narrow staircases might make it difficult for families with small children. The location for us was ideal, being just down the road from the College of Art, and even though it seems quite expensive I would definitely stay there again.

Quirky, friendly hotel. Decor as advertised - not minimal or neutral! Suited us very well. Staying as attending local wedding so not needing to get into city centre though bus and tube worked fine for us on travel days. Good directions and travel tips on hotel website. Simple breakfast but really liked the organic ethos. Honesty bar in little breakfast lounge really nice. Felt at home. Would stay again if we could get a better room rate. £125 for an ensuite double felt bit steep compared to other places we've stayed.

A friendly, comfortable and quirky hotel

The staff couldn't be friendlier, breakfast tasty and healthy, bed very comfortable and room quiet with triple glazing & air conditioning if you need it (but we didn't). The room wasn't large but it was adequate and overall, for London, this is excellent value for money. To get to central London there are buses just across the road, or you can walk to one of the stations. Camberwell Green is a lively area with some nice restaurants and the hotel has one of its own (Tapas) which is terrific - you need to book. We also ate in a very nice Greek Restaurant a couple of minutes walk down the road.

Colourful, clean hotel and service with a smile!!!

We were a mixed wedding party, staying 2 nights and not much time in the Hotel except late night and breakfast! Themed decor was exotic and very well done, my sister and I shared the orange colour-washed double room as we wanted an en-suite and there wasn't a twin. Space was pretty restricted with nowhere to put our cases except on the chair or in the corner of the room and careful passing required to the bathroom! That said the room and en-suite were spotless, toiletries and chocolate provided as promised and a shower cap found from house-keeping on request. The 'honesty book' for helping yourself to drinks from the bar was novel but seemed to work well and we made cups of tea and coffee until the early hours. The traffic didn't disturb us at all and the guys on reception were always friendly and cheerful. Breakfast was healthy, though I would have liked a more 'fibrous' cereal selection with maybe prunes rather than the 3 types of corn flake....or cooked would have been great (hard boiled eggs on a delicate stomach from a trifle overindulgence didn't do it for any of us)! Overall loved the place and would stay again if we were going to that neck of the woods.
