Overnight stay at the Charing Cross Hotel

A great location. Nice comfortable room and the reception staff and breakfast staff were first class. However, we were let down by the Housekeeping staff. Twice we requested bath robes but to no avail. It quite clearly states in the guest book that bathrobes are available on request. In a hotel of that class, they are normally provided in the rooms without having to ask.

Room size disappointment

We previously stayed at the Charring Cross Hotel December 2010 and our room was beautiful and a great size. We booked this visit on the back of such a great experience and so chose the same quality room as last time. My wife was disappointed to be faced with a much smaller room especially as we were staying for 4 nights! We did not complain as we assumed there would be little to be done but perhaps if we had given them the opportunity things may have changed. Having said that the room was clean and adequate just not as sumptuous as my wife had hoped and the staff were very courteous at all times and the hotel itself is ideally placed for the centre of London.

Great Hotel

Very comfortable stay. Beautiful hotel and staff very friendly. Slight downside was access to our room. We arrived around 1.50pm and was told the room would be available at 3.00 but this stretched to 3.20pm. Otherwise we had a lovely time .

Smashing staff

All the staff were smashing, very friendly and helpful. Room pretty good although a little dated in the bathroom and the shower not brilliant. Breakfasts were good but could have been better if hot food not cooked so early. Great location easy for tube/sights/buses. A good experience.

Staying at the Charing Cross Hotel

We enjoyed our stay. Our room (an upgrade to a junior suite - at a price, of course) was very pleasant and had a wonderful view of the Eleanor Cross, the Pepperpots and St. Martin's in the Fields, which was a great view of Central London. I found the bed a bit hard, but there were plenty of pillows and covers. The bathroom was excellent and there was plenty of hot water, which is always a great boon. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The evening lighting of the hotel puiblic areas with lots of candles in glass holders was delightful to see but it did make me wonder what the London Fire Brigade would think about it.

We enjoyed our stay

This hotel has a very grand staircase, which makes it feel special. The deluxe room was quite spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and clean. The hotel was very quiet, with no sound of the station behind/below. Both dinner and breakfast were of a good quality, and good value with the discounts that were offered to us as pert of the booking process.

A very nice hotel apart from the srounding building works

A very nice hotel apart from the srounding building works that they forget to tell you about. Turned up on Friday night was offered an upgrade for £45 not sure we should of bothered as the room backed onto a building site and the banging started around 8am not good if you have had a late night in London. Worth staying if you have a room away from the building works

Perfect weekend break

I booked this hotel for a weekend break , it is five minutes walk from trafalgar square and the same from covent garden . The booking in was simple and very efficient and Ignacio the concierge was a delight to deal with. Our room was spotless and unbelievably quite for central london, and the three course lunch on offer was excellent in quality and well priced . We have already recommended this hotel to friends and we will be rebooking there in the summer for another weekend away , well done the Charing Cross

Charing Cross Hotel

We were staying in London for a couple of days and found this hotel via LateRooms. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The concierge greeted us at the entrance and kindly took my bags to the reception area. The reception staff made us feel very welcome and were extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
The room we stayed in was perfect for a stop-over in London and is ideally located for those looking to explore the sights.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

A good very central hotel

The first allocated room was side on to a busy street and there was too much noise very late at night. The reception staff moved us very willingly to a different room for the second night. A very small matter, but we would have liked biscuits to have been included in the complimentaries.
Nice to be able to step, almost, from train to hotel, and, in hotel, we did not hear any station noise.

Central Location

Hotel in a wonderful position for usual tourist attractions and for access to rail network. Room very modern and comfortable, unfortunately the mattress was too hard for our taste and led to an uncomfortable nights sleep. Nice shower if you are over 6ft but not suitable for small person as shower head is fixed and hits the opposite side of the shower, making it extremely difficult to use. Breakfast would have been much better if the food was kept warmer. Would use hotel again as the position is second to none and staff extremely welcoming.

To avoid

I booked for 2 nights and only one was recorded in the hotel database, then when I had to pay they wanted to overcharge me (30% more than the price showned on my reservation) The room was not very clean(stains on the curtains and furniture and also bed linen). Finally despite double glazing the hotel is noisy. Also internet is not free and very expensive. The location is good but it this hotel is overpriced so it is better to look for another place in the area and avoid this hotel

Total mixup, worrying security and dirty cups and sheet.

My daughter and I booked a twin room, when given the key we found other peoples' luggage already in the room. Went back down to find we were not the only ones who had been double booked. We were offered an upgrade to executive double, or another hotel, as we were now starting to run late, took the double. Thankfully couldn't get a table for dinner as the breakfast was awfull, it was first cold, toast, coffee, baked beans, eggs, everything. The boiled egg had a runny white and a hard yolk first for me; we didn't eat it and thankfully had not paid for it, as it was complimentary for all the other problems. Room had all the gagets and the shower was to die for, though needed cleaning first, made a hot drink, then found lispstick on the cup. My daughter watches The Hotel Inspector so stripped the bed and found dried blood on the duvet cover, thankfull we always carry our own kingsize sheet. Didn't dare leave the phone on to charge while we went to breakfast as we felt anyone could enter the room by mistake, maybe that was why the was a safe. We booked through late bookings and had a 73% discount, but still paid £198.12, and felt ripped off; at full price I would have raised the roof. My daughter feels it should be brought to the notice of the hotel inspector, The Premier Inn could teach them alot about cleaning, security and how to cook a decent breakfast. I felt sorry for recpetion staff who were doing their best, but everything seemed out of their control, they said it was their busiest time for checkin, yet only two people were on, there were plenty in the morning, but their understanding of English made things difficult, (English is my second language). All in all very suprised at their rating and will look else were next time.

We came to London to see a show at the west end, and the Charing cross hotel was the perfect place to stay. It's location was superb, right in trafalgar square; and its staff were extremley friendly and helpful. The room was great, clean and comfortable. (Our sink was abit cracked but that wasn't a problem), and the breakfast the next morning was good too. For a short stay in london, the Charing cross hotel did the job nicely.

Not value for money.

The staff were all friendly and pleasant and the building itself was nice and well presented. However, the room was small and dirty, there were holes in the walls and the toilet seat was broken. It was probably the worst hotel room I have stayed in. The noisy busker with a microphone outside the window didn't really help either.
