Bathroom well appointed.
Other than the very poor lighting the TV choice was limited and the 5 teresteral channels had poor reception.
Hotel on a very busy road and the soundproofing on the windows was not great.
Overall acceptable but nothing special- very expensive if not one the late room rate

My wife and I arrived to be greeted by pleasant reception staff who were extremely helpful and courteous and this continued for the duration of our stay. The room was very well apointed and extremely clean we found the whole experience wonderful (We wish we could say that for every London hotel we have stayed in). Forget the tube, less than 10 minutes away the river cruises are better and only a little more expensive if you use the voucher on the map provided by the hotel. Restaurant Ok but service not great and the rosti was awful!

Short walk (2 mins) from Aldgate Tube Station and 10 min walk to Tower Bridge. Staff very friendly and room (albeit a little dated) was clean and had everything you might need (iron, hair dryer, air con, coffee/tea making facilities, tv, internet, mini bar etc). Breakfast was great (included in our package but circa 15 otherwise). Bar area downstairs serves meals (burgers were very nice and home made) or there is a restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

What a pleasant surprise to find a great...
What a pleasant surprise to find a great hotel within 100 yards of Tower of London, on a very good bus route for getting into the Centre of London and for 2 on a London bus a chance to passby lots of famous attractions without the expense; Tower, St Pauls, Fleet Street, the Gherkin, the Strand, Trafalgar Square etc etc and straight into the heart of shopping on Regent Street and Oxford Street, No 15 Bus outside the hotel and lots more other routes can be taken by bus at the top of the Minories where the hotel is. Rail and tube access is just around the corner at Fenchurch Street and Aldgate so no excuse for not being to get around and easily got to from the major railway stations with just a few stops on the tube from Kings Cross etc. More relaxing that the hustle and bustle of more central hotels and with many little perks that some of those dont offer. Nice room, toiletries of quality and dressing gowns, plenty of wardrobe space and tea/coffee facilities all in. A great breakfast was offered also and included in the offer I had with Laterooms, the choice and quality were very good. I cant recommend this hotel highly enough and the staff were very polite and helpful.

What can i say, stayed here for an overnight when seeing a show at the O2. Great location only 2 minute walk from either Tower Hill or Aldgate. Very easy to find.
Upon arrival our 'luxury' room was not ready so we were happily upgraded to an executive room. To be honest, the room was small. I would say it was a decent size for a standard room, on the small side for a luxury and positively small for an executive. That said, the cleanliness could not be faulted and i suppose the hotel cannot be held responsible for the arcitecture of the last few centuries!
Breakfast was free and as a trained chef i have to say it was a good job as i would not have paid a pound for it let alone 16!
High quality food that tasted lovely but it was obviously pre cooked and as a result was overcooked when warmed through. The fried eggs were solid!
All in all though we had a wonderful stay at the Chamberlain would definately be back if the same price was available. Unsure if i would pay more though.
Excellent staff, all very happy and accomodating.

I was in London for 3 day's on business and was looking for a comfortable hotel close to where I was working. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was nice and warm and clean and cleaned each day which was nice to come back to. There is a pub downstairs, which served good value pub food (it has a restuarant as well, but I didn't try this), and was nice to relax in at the end of the day with a pint! Also, you didn't really here any noise from the pub upsatirs in the hotel at all.
The only downside was that on the last night the TV wasn't working properly, and despite contacting Reception about it, they didn't really do anything to try and fix it.

We were travelling to London for a business meeting on the Monday evening. Unfortunately the check-in was very slow due to a large party preceeding our arrival. The bathroom featured a built-in tv - which we were later told only worked on the 5th floor - we were on the 3rd. The internet only worked on the 1st floor or in the business centre. The bed had a very solid lump in the middle which was uncomfortable. The telephone did not work until they had unbarred the number and...the tv wake up alarm kept going off every 20 minutes until we turned it off and used our mobiles phones as alarm clocks.
The receptionist in the morning was extremely rude upon hearing our problems and walked off!
I have been offered free accommodation on our next visit but will not be staying with Chamberlain again.

The hotel is in an excellent location close to tube and overland rain stations. The attached pub is good and drinks are reasonably priced, I did not try the food on this occasion as this is a nice Indian round the corner. The room I had was spacious and well appointed, complete with LCD TV and another TV in the bathroom. There was a large shower cubicle and a very powerful shower that I didn't want to get out of! The soundproofing was good and I didn't hear any noise from other rooms, ensuring a good nights rest. I received an excellent discount through LateRooms for this hotel so the price was good, although I do think the regular room rate is on the high side. All-in-all an excellent hotel which I will look forward to staying in again sometime in the future.

We stayed at The Chamberlain on a Saturday night, as it was a good deal and appeared to be quite central. We were really pleased at how easy it was to find from both Tower Hill tube and also from Aldgate tube. It was an easy stroll to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, and we had a pleasant walk along the Thames for several hours allowing us to see lots of sights. It's convenience for the tube (and buses) meant that it was possible to get to Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Oxford Street etc easily. The hotel staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful toward us during our brief stay - and even provided us with some foil to wrap a few breakfast rolls up in to take out for a picnic in Hyde Park when we were cheeky enough to ask! Breakfast was served until 11am which allowed us a lie in after having had a late night going to a West End show and dinner. We will definately be looking out for future offers to stay here through Late Rooms.

Gorgeous little hotel with a very regal and courtley feel to it - olde worlde yet modern. There was building work & decorating going on when we arrived. Got great deal on LateRooms but unfortunately the room we stayed in had a faulty air-vent that rattled all night long then at 8 in the morning the builders began hammering and drilling away. We complained to front desk and were paid lip service and commiserated for our loss of sleep. I wrote to management next day and recieved a reply email offering an apology for the substandard visit and offered an upgrade the next time we stay there - which was fair enough - we have stayed in London since but not returned to this hotel just yet but will do so soon because it was a neat little hideaway with a nice feel to it.

The room was very nice and facilities good although the plasma screen, advertised on the internet as a selling point of the room did not work. The hotel was very quiet even though located in/near a busy part of town. However, was very diappointed with the service at breakfast. After waiting 15mins for a spare table, it was evident that there were many free tables but just a slow turn around with the waitresses not clearing empty tables. We were seated, unaware of what breakfast we were entitled to, cooked/continental. After 20mins of waiting to be asked for tea/coffee we had to go and find a waitress and ask for tea and toast, which should have been offered as soon as we were sat down. The waitresses seemed disorganised and unaware of who they needed to attend to, continually attending to guests that had just sat down and ignoring those who had been waiting for some time. Other than the breakfast staff, the food and stay at the hotel was more than satisfactory for the location and price.

The payment process was confusing and unprofessional. I was led to believe that when paying by VISA Credit card you do not need to make a payment up front (to cover mini-bar costs) and recover it upon departure, but the receptionist insisted otherwise. I was not reassured by the competence of the staff, the technology or the check in process in general.
Fortunately, our room was clean and comfortable, and our stay was very satisfying. The late check out deadline was also very appreciated. The only complaint was the provision of only one bath towel, but that we didn't particularly mind.
We would definitely recommend this hotel as it is very conveniently located - a couple of minutes' walk from the Tower Hill tube and the Tower of London - clean and well appointed. The Chamberlain is only a few minutes walk from the Tower of London and tubes so a great base to explore the city, I found the staff at this hotel very friendly , accommodating and efficient. The hotel and room was clean and comfortable , the only complaint I had was that the tv in the bathroom I had so looked forward to watching, whilst soaking in mountains of bubbles was not working, reception informed someone was due to look at it on the Monday but that didn' help me much.
We ate dinner in the adjoining fullers pub, which unfortunately wasn't the best, the meat in the steak and ale pie was a bit sub-standard but the vegetables were nicely cooked and they were obliging when I requested potatoes instead of chips, I think i was just unlucky with my pie as my partners dinner was fine, but the beer was excellent!! As this was a pub it was a bit noisy, but to be honest to be expected on a saturday night with groups of 20 somethings celebrating, I did check, but the hotel restaurant was not open it was already set up for breakfast. The bed was very comfy and the room supplied all you would need with bath robes and iron and hairdryer and the usual shampoo etc also I was pleased to notice it was nice and quiet none of the downstairs pub noise reached us. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as they were asking 15 for a full english, which on priciple I would not pay, we had a enormous breakfast at a weatherspoons pub for a fraction of the cost at 4.50 and that set us up for the day. I would definately reccommend this hotel and would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel was very easy to get to - just 5 mins walk from aldgate tube and bus station. The customer service was good, if a little slow and confused at times. The room was clean and spacious with good decor throughout. There were two of us staying in a twin room, but only one set of towels in the bathroom, which was annoying until I found another one in the wardrobe. There were sumptuous robes, an iron, ironing board, hairdryer and a trouser press (which didn't seem to work, but then, I've never used one before).
The room was very good value for money booking through late rooms, but I don't think it would be worth the full price (friends of our stayed in the Royal Horseguards down on whitehall place, which I assume is probably a 5* and the rooms were only 180 compared with 225 for this hotel. No comparison really.)
The breakfast was in with the price of the room, and was continental as well as full English, although my scrambled eggs tasted of fish, and the blackpudding was left off my breakfast plate, only to be brought a few minutes later, when I asked, by a grumpy supervisor, and consisted of one lonely piece of black pudding, very undercooked. (Not worth the full price of 14.95 by any means!) The continental was very good though - plenty of choice.
All in all, a very good choice if it's at the right price.

This hotel for a weekend visit is good...
This hotel for a weekend visit is good value we paid 89 per night. It is owned by the Fullers beer group and the hotel incorporates a pub within the hotel. There is a good menu here all fair prices. The room was clean and comfortable.Due to its City Location its quite Sat / Sun so you need to travel out.Its very close to Tower Bridge where opposite there is a Weatherspoons Pub in Trinity Place which do a good breakfast at a cheap price .The hotel is on the Circle Line so its easy to get around.Worth a visit for a Theatre Break.

Check in took over half an hour due to lack of staff, the manager came out and told the receptionist off for not calling him. Breakfast was a fiasco, Had to wait over twenty minutes to be seated then half an hour to get the correct order. Gave up after the third attempt and excepted what was put in front of me. The staff in the resturant at breakfast were very unhelpful. No guidlines on what was on offer and no one asked if we had any orders. The only staff member who was helpful was the Bell boy on duty that day, Well done him

Disappointed that the "Double Plasma Screen " in the bathroom was only a small tile tv. However, late chekout (for non standard rooms) being 13.00 and terrace balcony with trees and plants etc , made my stay very enjoyable indeed.
Location was very good - just a couple of blocks from Tower Station & Liverpool St. Station. Breakfast was just ok but included in the price of the room which at 89.00 was great! We would definitely stay there again. Service was friendly.
