First the positive: Reception staff were efficient and polite. The room was basic but clean, although a wooden plank was holding up the top of the wardrobe from collapsing. The supply of tea bags in the room (just two) was mean, given that check-in was 3.00 pm and checkout 12.00 the following day. The bed was comfortable and wide.
The negative: Even the cheapest hotels in the Bayswater area have a rack from which guests can help themselves to brochures of the many London attractions, but here there were none. The "Concierge" desk was enormous, as was the reception area, yet the supercilious uniformed man behind the desk there responded to my enquiry about such literature with the sniffy remark "we have no room for such things." I then asked if he could give information. "You will have to go and buy 'Time Out' " was the reply. This man is entirely suited to working in back-street hotels in Hong Kong where I have seen similar lazy attitudes displayed.
Breakfast was served in the spacious dining room, but I chose give this a miss on seeing the mass-produced and squashed croissants stacked high alongside the cheap fruit juices. This was overpriced. For a further few pounds, you could have a slice of processed cheese and ham.
In all honesty, I cannot recommend this hotel.
