The location of the Castleton Hotel was excellent...
The location of the Castleton Hotel was excellent, very convenient to an important underground and train station, Paddington. The room was very clean and had everything I needed, in a compact space, to be sure. The staff was very helpful when I needed to change my reservation. In addition, one of the staff members provided good ideas for places to see. I would definitely return to the Castleton Hotel.

There was an error in the booking made for this hotel. When I contacted the hotel and tried to have rt corrected, they said there was nothing they could do and I would be charged. I think they should have tried to help me straighten out the error.

Although on the small side our room was cheerfully decorated, spotlessly clean and well equipped/kitted out. The breakfast was very good and all hotel staff were approachable and helpful. Represented excellent value for such a nice part of London.

Very rude recieptionist - I booked a single room and my friend was with me, we split the cost of the room and we were told it wasn't allowed. When we said we'd leave he said he'd take the cost of the hotel off the card anyway. So we were stuck - I had to pay £80 for a very tiny room, I could have got a better hotel for this! The guy was very rude and was talking to us like we were stupid. Food was extremely basic, no vegeterian options. Room was ok - clean but small, not worth the money.

We were very pleased with our short (1 night) stay at the Castleton - found the people friendly and helpful, the place was clean, the food was good and it was good value for the money.

I booked one room on the day as a last minute thought for my wife and me on a night out in London. The hotel was perfectly located being stones throw from Paddington station. Check-in was smooth, the minor problem of little toilet roll was sorted promptly. Even though we were stuck in the basement next to the breakfast room are room was very quiet. Clearly newly re-decorated and a very confortable new bed.

Stayed for one night at the Castleton booking...
Stayed for one night at the Castleton, booking a single room at the last minute through Laterooms for £49. I was put in a double, which was tiny as expected but clean and well-maintained. The shower pod is tiny but works well, with a good strong hot shower - in fact so hot the steam sets off the smoke alarm... Hotel staff phoned up to say keep the shower pod door closed - fair enough, but the second time it went off was when I opened the door to come out! The breakfast room is a bit of a squeeze, but there was a proper cooked breakfast with no surcharge, and it was good and tasty, which is a pleasant surprise. But ending breakfast at 0900 on a weekend is a little sadistic. Overall I wouldn't want to spend any time in the room other than to sleep, but for that it was ideal. Only downside with room 115 is that it is right underneath the front entrance, so when hotel staff are chatting just outside, it is as though they are in the room.

Yes it is a centrally located hotel Yes...
Yes, it is a centrally located hotel. Yes, the room was clean. But that was about the only good thing about it. My room (a double, allegedly) was barely larger than the bed. I am glad that I was on my own because two people would have had to lie on top of each other to fit on the bed (I hasten to add that though I am not a gangly youth, I am not obese either). If you have ever flown on an aircraft, you will know how big the toilets are. The toilet in my bedroom was of an exactly the same size except it had an added miniscule shower so that the overall space was acceptable. I spent two nights at this hotel. On arrival, I promptly discovered that the heating wasn't working (in January you would want it to be working) and no one knew how to fix it. I asked for another room but apparently there wasn't a spare one. The staff were not forthcoming with ideas so it was up to me then to suggest that perhaps an extra blanket would be appropriate. Customer care? Forget it. No suggestion of a discount for the fact that the room was not up to the standard, either. When I left to attend my business meeting in the morning, I asked that the heating is sorted out. When I returned, late in the evening, I was told that the heating had been sorted out. Except, of course, it had not. The wall-mounted heater was just as dead then as it was the previous day. The surly receptionist (who would not get off his mobile phone whilst talking to me), told me that a portable heater was put in my room. I was certain that I would not have missed a large object like that in this capsule of a room but thought that perhaps due to being tired I somehow did not notice it. Of course, when I returned back to my underground warren (yes, the room was in the basement) there was no portable heater. The surly receptionist eventually dragged it into my room (still engaged in a private conversation on his mobile).

If you want luxury in a hotel pay luxury prices. If you want a base that is clean friendly and gives a good breakfast stay here. Small rooms but still enough space for what you need. 5 minute walk from Paddington station, 5 minutes to Hyde Park. 20 minute walk to Royal Albert Hall and it is near to the road through the park so you can still walk after dark. Pubs and cafes nearby if you need a late pint.

Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful and based on it's location it provided a very affordable alternative. The room was on the small side for a twin but as I was upgraded from a single with no extra charge I was more than pleased.

Very clean, well-located hotel just a couple of minutes walk from Paddington. Staff were friendly enough, the room was immaculate - if tiny - and the breakfast was surprisingly good. Overall, a great place to stay if you need to stay over in town for a party or special evening out.
