Triple room

The triple room was very small at the top of building accessed by a very narrow steep staircase -hard to get luggage up. Low ceiling would make it very hot in summer. Toilet unit was very narrow - impossible for an overweight person to use. 7am breakfast on weekends would be nice so those with early Heathrow departures could have a bite.
Fresh fruit, rather than canned would be great at breakfast. Pleasant fast service.
Left luggage service was appreciated

Not a three star hotel

We stayed in Cardiff hotel for three nights. When we arrived the receptionist welcomed us very friendly. When we got to our room and I was ready for a lovely shower - the water was ice cold! The explanation was that the boiler had just been changed. Eventually the water got warm. The toilet/shower was very small. The room was alright, although very dark. There was no duvet cover and I don't like dirty blankets over me. I left the toilet towel on the floor since I wanted it to get changed but the cleaning lady had just lifted it up back to the rail? They advertise full English breakfast, but the sausages were very dry, probably they had been cooked in oven two hours before breakfast? And the cereal buffet was not very good. We would have appreciated more different types of yogurt and fruit and cheese. And one morning there was a mouse on the breakfast room floor. So I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody. This is a two star hotel. Only good thing is the location, near Paddington Station and easy to get from the airport.

Conveniently located for Paddington transportation

VERY basic hotel, but beds were comfortable and bathroom fresh and clean. The door was a bit flimsy, as were the locks for the door and window, but since the lobby was manned and the window opened to a small courtyard there were no worries there. The wifi had a good signal the first day, but disappeared the last evenening to our annoyance. There was only a single power outlet, which was inconvenient for travellers with a laptop and two mobiles needing charging. The area is very convenient for getting around (150 m to Paddington!), finding lunch/dinner and less than a mile from Oxford street.

Just what I wanted!

I had a night and a day in London before leaving for Australia, and I needed somewhere comfortable to stay before the long plane journey (24 hours!). The Cardiff Hotel is conveniently located close to Paddington. The staff were very welcoming, the room was quiet, I could have a hot shower in the ensuite bathroom. The English breakfast was good, with a variety of choices. My flight was in the evening after I arrived in London, so I had a long time to wait before leaving my room and walking down to Paddington Station to catch my train to Heathrow. The Hotel allowed me to leave my luggage in a small side room, which was very convenient.
The hotel provided just what I needed.

Cardiff Hotel

Booked this accommodation overnight for a half term trip to Madam Tussaud's and the history museum and a few other sights. I booked a family room for two adults and two children. I was not impressed. The room was clean but had marks and stains over the walls. The room was compact to say the least and the bathroom was an absolute joke. It was approx 4 foot square and had the smallest shower and sink that you could imagine. The family sink was one of those tiny cloak room sinks. and i could just about fit in the shower. There was also a loo crammed in to the space however with the closed, knees were pressed tighty against the door. How anyone is supposed to supervise a child i do not know. The view outside was of an outside boiler room covered with dirt and birds mess, awful. The breakfast was poor as well, the cooked breakfast consisted of a chipolata sausage one rasher of bacon one egg and a tablespoon of beans optional tomato. It was fine for my 8 year old but adults were dished up the same. Granted there was serial and toast to fill up on. In fact the only good thing was the reception girl. She was helpful and polite.
Overall the hotel was certainly budget in every way, not a nice place to stay in my view. I would have been disappointed to pay £50 for the room and breakfast, very poor in every way

The location of this hotel was fantastic for our family as it was a very short walk to two main tube lines so it was easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit as well as being only a short walk to Hyde Park. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was reasonable, plenty of tea and toast to fill up on before we travelled out for the day. The family room was a good size for us, but the bathroom was very small and because I was travelling with a toddler a bath would have been better than just a shower.

Great location, just a short walk from Paddington tube.Quiet Hotel with gardens/park next to it. The only issue (very minor) was the carpet by the door really needed replacing or made secure again as it came up too easily which is why I marked the quality of room as 5.
Breakfast fine and plenty available. Would stay again and recommend to freinds. Value too good to miss for the location.

Really good value for money, 3 minutes from paddington station, super friendly staff

The room was tiny indeed and the house definitely needs refurbishment - neither the entrance area nor the staircase look welcoming in any way, quite run down with construction material all over the place - HOWEVER: my room was very clean, staff is super friendly and helpful and the location ist excellent. paddington is just 3-5 minutes away, a walk to marble arch (oxford street) would take no longer than 20 minutes, lancaster gate tube station 5-10 minutes. breakfast is more than enough considering this is central london, it's really good value for money - in the end you can't expect 5 start treatment and accommodation if you oly want to pay 2 star prices. if i stayed for more than 2 nights i would surely go for a more comfortable hotel with bigger rooms.

Bargain

Although my single room was very small, with a compact shower room en suite, it was perfectly sufficient for one night. Bit like being on an overnight ferry size-wise. Nice crisp clean sheets - blankets could do with a refresh though! However, for £39 bed and breakfast and just by Paddington Station it would be hard to beat for a short night-stop before an early meeting in London so will definitely bear in mind for future stays. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine - full English, and waitress served rather than congealed eggs on a buffet.

Excellent value with great customer service

The Cardiff hotel was a great find. I was looking for somewhere close to Paddington to stay for a couple of nights. It was only a few minutes walk from the station but in a quiet location overlooking some nice gardens. I'd asked for a quiet room so was given a room on the 4th floor which was fine with me. The room was perfectly adequate - not large but it had everything I needed. The room was clean and it had a small ensuite bathroom which was fine. It was great to have such welcoming and friendly staff who smiled a lot! The breakfast was an added bonus - served very quickly and a great start to the day. They also allow you to leave your luggage at no cost after you check out. The Cardiff hotel isn't for people who want 5* accommodation but if you're looking for good value close to a transport hub it's ideal. I'll definitely be returning to the Cardiff hotel!

Dissapointing

The staff at the hotel were superb and overly helpful, unfortunately the hotel is very tired and clearly in need of work.
The room was tiny and very tired, the carpet was filthy and everything above head height was dusty or covered in cobwebs.
The hotel rooms are cheap for London but outside of the city that standard of accommodation would simply be not acceptable.

Excellent staff, fantastic location and good value for money.

I stayed on the top floor in a tiny, but very clean room. Everything worked perfectly and the bed was comfortable. Only minus was having to walk to the top floor carrying a 30 kg suitcase without any help. Hotel location is superb, a short stride to Paddington which is a brilliant starting point for exploring London or getting around everywhere by train. The hotel staff is by far the most helpful and friendly I've encountered in these kind of London hotels. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone having to stay in London on a budget.

Worst room possible

The hotel has a fantastic location, quiet yet with really easy access to transport and nearby sights. The lobby, the staff and breakfast were pretty alright, but I got the crummiest room in the hotel, I really hope not all of them resemble this one: The size of a match box, really low ceiling, pink allover, the bathroom hardly fits one standing person, not to mention it was on the forth floor with no elevator (I didn't mind the exercise). That being said, I would never recommend the hotel to anybody, and I shall not go there ever again.

Small, basic and no frills, but for the price we paid we expected nothing else. That said, the room, bedding and towels were spotlessly clean and dry. The cooked breakfast was served almost immeadiately and was pipping hot.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpfull and check in/out was very quick and we were able to leave our luggage to be collected later on.
The only thing i have issue with is the pillows. They seperated as soon as my head touched them and might as well not have been there. But that is the ONLY thing and hardly a damning criticism.
If you want luxuary and all mod cons and the price that comes with it then try the Hotel Indigo across the road but if you just want a clean, warm base whilst you explore London then use The Cardiff. I will definately be using this hotel again

I hadn't high hopes as this was by far the cheapest option available - but it was one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The single room was small but with a large floor to ceiling window which helped the room feel bigger. The bathroom was miniscule but fine. Breakfast in the basement was standard - if the clientele a little odd - but that's not the hotel's fault! Quite a good variety of restaurants nearby too - and excellent access to Paddington station. All in all - a positive experience.

This hotel was more than adequate for my needs; an overnight stay in London where all I wanted was a conveniently-located bed for the night. A couple of minutes walk from Paddington station and tube the location is perfect for access to the West End. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly. The single room was possibly the smallest I've ever stayed in but the bed was comfortable, the room clean and I only had to wait for a few minutes to get a hot shower in the morning - just don't drop the soap, as I did, as the cubicle is too small to retrieve it!
A cooked breakfast is included and whilst of economy standard it was perfectly adequate and, at the special rate I paid, made the overall package good value for money.

Very small bathroom/no lift?

I could not believe how ridiculously small the bathroom was! Thankfully, my wife and myself are not very big, as if we were it would have made things a little difficult. The size of the sink made ensured that when you attempted to scoop up water to wash or shave, the water would run off the end of your elbows.
Although the bed and room were generally clean, the cobwebs that hung from the ceiling were somewhat offputting.
It would be useful for people to know that there was no lift available which could prove to be difficult for elderly or disabled visitors and no assistance was offered wth regards to taking our luggage up 3/4 flights of stairs.
I appreciate that some decorating was being carried out (as was evident by bags of plaster on the stairs landings) and this added to the feeling that this hotel has been rather neglected over recent years.
On a positive note, the english breakfast was good with excellent service and plenty of tea, coffee and toast on offer.
