We were pleased to stay at Cardiff. The location is excellent, Paddington Station being right infront of the hotel! Though the rooms and bathrooms were very small, yet we felt at home just because of the friendly attitude of the staff especially Alexandra who was so nice, helpful and provided us with all the information we needed. The staff who serve breakfast are very polite, nice and hospitable. We would definitely want to stay here again and would recommend this hotel to our friends, relatives and acquaintances who wish to visit and explore London.

The lady on the desk was very polite and the room was clean. The breakfast looked so good I ate at a cafe round the corner, but at the price you pay for the room, to even have an offer of breakfast was a bonus!!! :-)

The Cardiff Hotel is in a great location...
The Cardiff Hotel is in a great location in Paddington only about 3 minutes walk from the tube and Heathrow Express trains. There is a fabulous park/garden directly opposite that our daughter loved to run around in and play which was great. There are restaurants and pubs a plenty within 100 metres of the hotel which is very convenient. The room we had was down a very tight set of stairs in the basement opposite the breakfast dining room which meant that there was no sleep in for us as we heard every staff member and guest coming down the stairs. The ceiling/floor above had no sound proofing and it was like the guests above us were doing Riverdance until late in the evening. The bathroom was also so very small it was comical - i didnt know that you could obtain sinks, toilets and shower recess in such minature sizes.I would stay here again but I would ask for a room on the top floor and I would ask to check the size of the bathroom as well.

Per chi vuole soggiornare a Londra la posizione è ottima. L'Hotel confortevole. La colazione buona e abbondante. Le stanze piccole, ma a Londra è un difetto comune.Unico neo per chi ha la vista sul retro, è davvero un pò triste.Pregio: cuscini piacevolissimi!!Cmq consigliato.

Easy to get to from Paddington station, clean, warm, quiet, tiny shower room but en suite so more than adequate. Would recommend if you are looking for basic overnight stay for under £50.

I stayed in a single room for two nights and paid £39 per night with breakfast included. Location wise this hotel is excellently placed near paddington station and local underground and bus routes. The room I stayed in was quite small but as I was on my own it was ok. The room was equiped with separate shower and toilet rooms (both were small), small TV and tea making facility. In general the hotel was quite grubby with lots of dust. The breakfast was very good for the cost with a wide choice of hot and cold food and drink.

Good value hotel, great position. Had upgrade from single to double but would have been dissapointed if I had booked a double as room/en-suite really small. TV reception appalling. Staff friendly, breakfast food & service good.

I stayed at the Cardif hotel for 4 nights. I had booked a single room and when I arrived the girl on reception offered me the choice of staying in that room (which was on the fourth floor) or I could have a double room on the 1st floor for the same price. (Of course I took the double). The room was very comfortable and while the rooms and bathrooms are small, as long as you know to expect this it's absolutely fine. Housekeeping did a fantastic job and the rest of the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I also found the hotel very quiet which was great, and the location just a 2 minute walk from paddington station was brilliant. I'd definitely stay here again.

Good budget option for a London break. Great location right beside Paddington station, in a picturesque terrace with garden. My only gripe was the early closing of breakfast - 9.00 on weekdays and 9.30 on weekends.

I booked into the hotel on a Sunday...
I booked into the hotel on a Sunday night for a conference in London that I had to attend on the next day. To start off with the lady at the reception when I checked in was friendly enough - but she clearly treated being there as a job and nothing more.I have read reviews about the evil stairs and didn't believe that it was much of a problem in the first place as I didn't have lots of luggage. However, after climbing those rather narrow staircases to *only* the second floor I quickly realised how bad it would be for someone who's got a suitcase to drag upstairs as they have no elevator. When I finally found my room it was in a small hallway that contains three other rooms. With the fire door being shut all the time, any smell would naturally be trapped in the hallway - and there was a lingering Indian sort of smell there... Fortunately, the smell did not get into my room. The room was a clean and decent one with two beds (I only asked for a single...) and a small desk. I then checked the bathroom but discovered that there was a strange smell in there, which was attributed to the shower curtain; the shower head was not unclean and I never figured out whether that was just tarnished metal or buggies growing on it (I ended up running the shower for as hot as possible for a couple of minutes just to make sure it's... usable). Apart from that, the rest of the bathroom was clean (bits of new and old parts in the bathroom looked... mismatched though); it was small but it wasn't difficult to maneuver around.Now... the worst bit. Well, the thing that you want the most for an overnight conference stay is a decent shower and a good night sleep. The latter was... tragic. The entire night when I was trying to sleep there was a thumping sound outside. I never quite located the source but it seemed to have come from the pipe just outside of the building. I don't think I ended up having much sleep as a result of that... The creaking floorboards outside didn't help much either...Breakfast was included but don't look forward to it. Nothing exciting there except for the teacup that wasn't properly washed...As a conclusion - don't make the mistake that I did. That is, thinking that for the low price having a bed, en-suite and brekkie is fantastic - well, it's not if you can't sleep through loud noises and can't deal with unwanted substances in your tea.

My room was at the top of 4 flights of stairs (OK as I am FIT) and rather small. The counterpain on the bed had seen better days. There was a large lump of cheese left by a previous occupant on the window ledge. I have paid the same price as I did here for a far better place and shall never return This is not a hotel, but a shabby B&B. take earplugs if you are going to stay here. There is no double glazing, so traffic and street noise is a contant. The breakfast room staff were very polite and helpful, but understaffed as they were constantly running aroud. The food was good enough with plenty to eat. Please freshen and brighten up the rooms if you insist on calling the place a hotel get it up to scratch.

This hotel had friendly, helpful staff. The room decor was past its best but the bed was comfortable, the shower hot, and there was a TV and kettle etc in the room. The breakfast area was rather cramped and open to the breakfast preparation area which was extremely cramped. If customers like to see that their food has been freshly prepared, this is the place to go. There are fairly steep steps up to the front door and down to the breakfast area. There is no lift at all. It would be difficult for people with heavy luggage, small children or disability issues. Our room was in the basement and looked out onto a ventilation space. The very big plus point for this hotel is its location. It is close to a range of restaurants and very close to Paddington station. As we were in London to see the tourist sites, the hotel was absolutely perfect. The reception staff were very helpful and efficient and the breakfast staff did their best under difficult conditions. The hotel was fully booked when we were there and perhaps the breakfast area is rather too small under these circumstances. I feel that this hotel, although not cheap compared to other parts of the UK, is value for money in a centre of London setting.

I stayed here about 40 years ago with my Dad. It is still good and is, in my view, one of the best value you can get despite the fact it doesn't discount. Staff are friendly, fresh milk available for tea in the rroms, the cooked breakfast arrived quickly and there is plently on the cold buffet. A generally relaxed, comfortable feel and the location is convenient but quiet.

I got upgraded free, which was nice, but the shower was so tiny, it didn't even have a soap holder! I also had a problem with the key, which was very difficult to turn in the lock and the room was warm, which was fine for the cold temperature outside, but would be a serious problem in summer!

The reviews said the rooms were small, so I wasn't surprised there. The new-looking bathroom was tiny, but that was in the reviews too. However, the noisy water pump wasn't expected. It appears the top floor water supply is pumped, and it's very noisy, not only when you use any water, but when your neighbours do too. Even if it's one in the morning. Pity, otherwise it's a decent and clean place, with a very adequate breakfast.

Small room, but adequate for my needs. Mostly quiet, given city centre location. Rather "bijoux" en suite, but again adequate. Shower was good. Bed comfortable. Fair choice at breakfast - generally good, although sausage tasted a bit off one morning. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices seemed competitive for central London. Very convenient for Paddington station/tube. Seemed to be plenty of eating establishments in the area.

Have stayed at Cardiff many times. It is a good hotel very close to Paddington station. This visit was in a family room. the family rooms are in the basement and are small with a very small bathroom. There are better places for a familoy stay in London that costs less. For a single traveller is Cardiff very good though!

I forgot to tell that I had asthma, and getting up to my room on the 4th floor was really hard. The room was extremely basic, not even a bedside light, and looked a bit shabby, but it was spotlessly clean. and the beds were comfy. The breakfast was good, but lastet only until 9, no place to stay if you want a lie-in. I am always amazed at how little you get for your money when it comes to hotels in London. Cardiff is reasonable value for money - for London.

The room was clean and the staff was truly very helpful, going out of their way to assist with a lost bag issue from the airport. The room really was awfully small for four people, however, and we felt we barely had any space. It seemed as though the 'family room' had been created from an old closet or storage place in the basement. Truthfully, though, even that would have been okay, but the food was simply not that delicious. Great location. Easy to get to from Heathrow! Perhaps other rooms upstairs for a couple are more comfortable.
