On arrival to hotel I was very impressed with the exterior of the building. I was put in room 215. Small, smelt of smoke, small brick room beyond the room filled with bird droppings, providing the only lighted window into the room. Absolutely shocking!!! Ask to be changed and receptionist was more than happy to move us. Placed in room 204, not too bad, quite old and in need of refurbishment. Contradictory to the the beautiful exterior of building.

NIce hotel, recently renovated. Room was a great size, Bathroom was a great size too. All seemed new and modern, although the building is old and beautiful. I only had 2 complaints but they are not a big deal. The air con didn't seem to work, and there is no guide to help. Also the queen size bed was 2 double beds joined together. We stayed in a club room, it was good for what we needed. Nearly perfect

Original room was... well, yuk! But the Front of Desk staff were first-class and allowed me to change for a higher quality one. I think the issue for this hotel is Floors 5 & 6 have been refurbished and are A1. All other floors are being done but currently are... yuk! It's that simple. All common access areas are great too - have to say the location was 'fab' too, close to the Tube and Oxford Circus et al is all within minutes.

Position was excellent. Close to parks and transport. Exterior belied the quality of the room. Tiny and old with poor "ensuite". I could hear the person next door snoring all night and somebody was stomping around in the room above till late in the night. Accommodation in London is expensive but I would have expected a better quality room. Meals and service were excellent. Elaine Rawiller

Despite some other dubious reviews this hotel was all fine. Service fine and they let me check in early. Room was a bit warm but a fan cooler/heater was provided and I could have opened a window. Cleaners polite, breakfast basic but perfectly good enough. A bit far from London Eye area, as for me this time the tube was not in operation. Close to Kensington Gardens.

The hotel room was extremely basic but clean, it was very small for 2 people and very difficult to walk around. The section of the hotel we stayed in was under renovation and there was scaffolding outside the window and we were unable to open the curtains throughout the stay, as well as workmen in the corridors throughout the day and very strong smell of paint. The room was unbearably hot for throughout the stay, this had obviously been an ongoing problem as there was a portable fan in the room, but the plug was falling apart and so at times it was difficult to get it to stay in the wall. The room was just about satisfactory but I personally would not book to stay there again. As for the rest of the hotel the reception was a high standard and the staff were polite and the food in the restaurant was good

This is a typical standard hotel in London, room was OK, nothing special but nothing wrong either, the en suite was a bit on the small side, but single room en suites normally are. No room to actually stand and dry yourself unless you sttod in the bath, but everything worked, and like I say it was no better or wose than any other hotel in London of the sae star rating, so would stay again with a similar deal

Hotel reception is nice, rooms where old (much older than the pictures givn on the website). Tv wouldnt work at first and there was scaffolding outside our room!... but at least the room was clean. In terms of site seeing in london, the hotel is 5 minutes away from Queenway tube, from there you can get to any venue quickly..... although if i was to visit again i would stay in the west end of city of london areas.

Hotel entrance and public areas are smart and fairly impressive. All the staff we dealt with were extremely polite and very helpful. Our room was very small, sink in the room and a toilet and shower as en-suite. The furniture was old and tatty, the tv was ancient, but it worked and there was a fair selection of channels. Free wi-fi in the room. The heating was not adjustable and so it was extremely hot, but we just left the window open all day. We heard one guest complain about the heating and she was offered a change of room without any fuss. The hotel in undergoing some refurbishment but there wasn't any noise, though visible signs of work in progress were present. All in all we had a fabulous time and would definitely stay here again. £67 per night including a "help yourself to as much as you like" continental breakfast. Super! After all... we don't come to London to spend time in the hotel room.

The rooms advertised for £69 reduced from £350 is a complete sham. This is purely a trick to get you to book their poorly appointed rooms last upgraded in the 70's. I was bitten by bugs all over my body in room 413. Despite the good location the fact that they would even offer rooms that are in such a poor state is disgusting.

Booked a single executive room which did not have all the features as advertised. Size of room was small, bed was too small as my feet were hanging off the end (I'm 6ft). TV in room was held together by carpet tape and could only receive Channel 5. Bathroom had broken and loose floor tiles and hence nearly cut the soles of my feet. One wall had a big hole in it and had been patched up poorly. Not an executive room in the slightest.Tried to eat in the restaurant but they refused to find me a table saying that all tables were reserved at 9.30pm. This was at 8pm and there were 3 tables available. Restaurant staff rude and uncooperative.

Soundproofing was non existent and you could hear people charging up and down corridor outside most of night ,when i investigated it seemed to be an asian guy and a couple of girls going to and fro who were not residents of the hotel ( shrug) it was middle of winter and the room was boiling with no aircon what its like in summer i cannot imagine .Breakfast was fine , clean restaraunt with staff positioned at four corners glaring at customers in an uneasy way all in all its ok for a one night stopover when you need quick few hours shut-eye but would not recommend it for a mid-long term stay in London , the WOW factor is reserved for the downstairs reception/bar /restaraunt area the rest is OUCH 8-/

Excellent location for shopping - a half hour walk from Oxford street. Right next to Hyde Park in a very nice area. Staff were helpful and polite. Executive rooms were very disappointing - on the ground floor with the window looking on to a very high wall. Very small with adjoining doors so every word of the neighbours could be heard. One of the rooms booked had a broken window which had been taped up but was not secure. On the plus side - constant hot water, big screen TV, nice continental breakfast. The 3 nights for 2 offer made this reasonably priced - otherwise would have expected more for the price paid.

While the staff were helpful and friendly, our room was in need of redecoration and updating. The shower ran hot and cold every few seconds, and the temperature in the room was so high, that even though the outside temperature was low, we had to have the window open for the whole of our stay - there was no means to turn the heat down in the room - in fact, even the public areas of the hotel were far too hot. Double room was tiny. Bed against wall on one side and shower only about 5 foot 4 from ground. Decor shabby in bedroom. Very stingy breakfast (continental) as only yoghurt, cheese, ham, croissant and cereal. The toaster wasnt efficient and produced only hot bread. The cooked breakfast was £5 extra and not worth the money. Feel it should have been included in room cost. Having said that the staff were generally pleasant and helpful and the location of the hotel made up for other things. However there is room for improvement.

The manager / asst. manager (?) was very professional in his dealings with guests and other staff. The only downsides were the lift, as there was only 1, so it was slow. I usually used the stairs to come down. It was out of order for a while one evening, which was a problem for a guest in a wheelchair. We stayed in this room in mid-December, and the hotel is being renovated floor by floor, with some rooms having been done on our floor. We weren't disturbed at all by renovations, but it is also clear that the rooms have not been updated since the hotel was built in 1950s-60s!! The bathroom is original, and pretty old and cruddy. However, the room was clean and secure, and the reception areas and dining room have all been updated. The position is wonderful, in a nice neighbourhood, near to Hyde Park and buses into Oxford Street. I felt that we paid a little too much considering just how old the room/floor was.
