Position of room

I paid £130 for a one night stay. I was told, when I arrived that my room had been changed. I was not told why. I had booked a double room. My room was small, on the lower ground floor and contained two single beds. The curtains were drawn. I assumed this was because the windows were at eye level from the street and passers by could clearly see into the room. I felt the room was dark and oppressive. After midnight I was woken by the noise of people walking about and moving furniture/heavy objects above my room. I assume this activity was coming from the bar area. If I had booked the room for more than one night I would have asked to be moved as soon as I arrived. The experience may not have seemed so bad if I had travelled with someone. The fact that the hotel was within walking distance of the Royal Albert Hall was it's saving grace.

Perfect for Short Break

Ideally situated for The Royal Albert Hall and the museums, and just a short stroll from Gloucester Rd tube station. Our room was comfortable, very clean and quiet. We stayed for two nights and took breakfast in the hotel on the morning of our departure - overall it was good. However they did not have any soya milk; I'm sure if we had requested it in advance it would have been available as the staff very helpful - we hadn't thought it necessary to do so in London. Nonetheless we would definitely stay there again.

2 Night stay

The hotel is ideally situated near to the underground (Gloucester Road) and is in easy walking distance of the Museums, Albert Hall with plenty of eateries, restaurants and a few bars. The hotel was very clean and tidy, with very good customer service from the staff. The rooms, although fairly small, are certainly comfortable and good for short stays. The room was very clean and well maintained and I would recommend having a room at the rear of the hotel as I understand it culd be fairly noisy at the front as it faces a major road. All in all a very enjoyable stay and I would stay here again.

My Stay

For my trip it was an ideal location with the tube station just around the corner.
Given its position in London I didn't expect a huge room, but it had everything I wanted for the price I was prepared to pay. I found all the staff were polite and friendly.

Clean, comfortable and good value...

Needed an overnight stay for an early morning meeting (me) and shopping (wife) and this fit the bill very nicely. Within walking distance of many attractions and spitting distance of Gloucester Road Underground (District and Piccadilly Lines). Room was not overly spacious but adequate for a short stay, and it was well appointed, recently refurbished, very clean and with the bonus of a balcony overlooking the garden. Staff were friendly and very helpful. In short, just what we were looking for: Clean, comfortable and good value at GBP116.

One night birthday trip for young couple to the Royal Albert Hall

We loved the hotel; I mentioned that it was my birthday in the booking and we were upgraded to a room with a beautiful terrace overlooking huge gardens. Room was clean and nicely decorated, huge double shower and a flat screen TV. Only downside was that there was no restaurant for dinner so we had limited options to eat in the evening as we did not want to go out, but breakfast was fantastic and included in the price of our room. Overall a fantastic hotel in a great location; walking to Royal Albert hall took less than 15 minutes. Very helpful staff; any issues resolved immediately and were very helpful.

Good base for exploring London

We had a theatre break weekend here and found it perfectly acceptable. The whole room was very clean and fresh towels both days. All the reviews stated that the rooms were 'pokey or small'. We found gthem perfectly adequate for a weekend stay. Only criticism would be that some bathroom fittings were worn and loose but not a huge issue. Buffet breakfast plentiful and good quality. Just up the road from the natural history museum and tube link straight across the road. Would recommend.

Small room, but high standard and excellent value for London

Stayed here for three nights on business, so it was important I was somewhere reasonably comfortable. Overall the stay here was great - the room was very small but this is typical for London. Double bed was a decent size (not the shrunken variety you sometimes get in London hotel rooms) but didn't leave much floorspace (only just enough to stand an ironing board). A small wardrobe/clothes hanger space was enough for me as a single traveller but would have been too small for a couple. Desk was fine. Furniture including the bed was all of a high standard, with a large TV on the wall opposite the bed (good range of channels). Shower room (no bath) well appointed with a large walk-in shower and modern furniture, although the trendy square flat-bottomed sink didn't drain very well! Everything very clean and new-looking. Restaurant and other public areas similarly modern, high standard and clean. Customer service was consistently friendly and helpful, the only irritation being that cleaners knocked then entered my room before 8am despite the privacy lock - I had to leave the 'do not disturb' sign on the door to keep them out! Breakfast was good quality and hot. Free newspapers and wifi in the bedrooms. Didn't get time to try the gym, but would guess it's small. Overall this is a high quality hotel which was excellent value at around £120/night for central London.

Great location, rooms very very small but of good quality

Stayed for two nights. The hotel is ideally located for the Gloucester road underground station and the Royal Albert Hall is only 10 to 15 minutes walk away and there are lots of pubs and restaurants within close proximity. I have to say the room was the smallest I have ever stayed in but it was clean and of a good standard. If you are after a luxurious spacious room then this is not the hotel for you but if you just want a good standard of room to rest your head at night then I would recommend this hotel.

Small but well-formed

Stayed for 1 night. Located on sub-ground floor room which was small but clean and smart. It had all the usual components-tea making, (flat-screen)TV etc. The en-suite was good, clean, smart with walk-in shower. Niggles- a/c was set at 19C minimum-i prefer it cooler- but it was fairly quiet; waste stopper to the whb did not work; whb in daughter's room was cracked although it had been filled. Hotels seem so expensive in London now but I've paid more and had a worse experience. didn't have breakfast as i always feel that these are expensive; plenty of places around to frequent.

Nice hotel, pleasant stay

Checking in was okay, pleasant enough. If you do stay, request for a balcony room which has a lovely decking area on the first floor. The rooms are clean but quite small. Overall was a pleasant stay, very near Gloucester Road underground. There are some nice eateries around the hotel. Even though it is on a busy road, the room was quiet. The price for one night was a bit excessive, but then again it is in central London. Overall a nice stay, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Comfortable but customer service needs attention

Very clean and comfortable. Room well air conditioned. Reception staff try to be welcoming and helpful. However, for a double room, somewhat small. And a double room (as opposed to a twin room) should have a double bed, not two single beds pushed together and with single bed clothing on each of them. Asking guests to check out by 9am is not terrifically hospitable (it's supposed to be 11am); nor is the maid banging on your door at 8.40am saying "check out, check out". Don't let them book you a cab - the minicab firm they use was more than twice as expensive as a traditional London cab.

Disappointed

I had booked this hotel as part of a christmas present for a weekend in London and chose it due to its location. It turned out to be disappointing. When we checked into our room ( 403 ) we were surprised at how small it was ( approx 11'-0 x 9'-0 ) so with a double bed in and furniture there was just room to move down each side. On the basis it was for one night we accepted it. When we returned to the hotel in the evening after a concert we went to the bar. I ordered a bottle of magners that was served in a "short" glass as they had no tall glass's ..... there were 2 other people in the bar so couldnt understand why they didnt have any. We then went to bed to realise that there was an air conditioning unit directly above the bedhead with the fan going and the sound of the liquid coolant circulating. With the lights out the noise became intolerable to sleep so I went to reception to get moved.
To be fair to the receptionist she said she had one room left so we moved. This room (655) was also very small and the entrance smelt very foisty but at least the room was quiet .....The cooked breakfast was ok but surely should have included bacon on the menu ..... premier inn / travel lodge are far superior on this experience.

Good lcation, only yards from Gloucester Road tube station, pleasant helpful staff, well presented premises. Only gripe was the size of the room. An attic room with no natural light! Three velux windows with fixed blinds which when opened presented a vista of a wall approx 12 inches away! The wardroom did not allow enough hieght to hang a shirt or jacket without them dragging on the floor.

Had a lovely time at this hotel

I was worried about the room due to some of the comments on here but it was lovely. It was very modern and clean,( maybe a little small but we were out all day so it didn`t matter). We had french windows which opened on to decking and a table and chairs. This in turn overlooked one of London`s private gardens. We were going to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall and we were able to walk there. The hotel is in a good location. the Picaddilly line takes you straight to Covent garden and so on. We ate breakfast each day at a lovely little cafe down the road where you could sit outside. The staff at the hotel were very nice too. we had no complaints whatsoever.

Business trip to London

This was a last minute booking for an overnight business visit to London. The hotel was clean, and many of the rooms seem to have been updated recently to quite a high standard. The location is good, close to Gloucester Road tube. Staff were quite friendly/helpful. Rooms not large but not as small as many I've seen in London, and they were furnished to a good standard. The is a breakfast room which was fine. Only slightly negative things to note are that the public area is quite small although there is a bar, and although the hotel is not large it is a bit like a rabbit warren in terms of lots of small corridors. However these are minor points and this a good place to stay in London in terms of it being comfortable and well priced and would definitely stay again.
