Typical 'lots of housesknocked in to make a hotel' feel but I thought - especially for the prce paid - I got an excellent deal and the room was more of a suite than a double room. Excellent. Would definitely stay there again -especially if I can get the same deal. Bloke on reception was not especially feriendly but the rest of the staff were great.

A quality hotel with great service

I was very pleased with the quality of the room which was well presented in a traditional style. It was clean and spacious.
The Late Rooms rate I got (just a few days before the booking) was considerably less than the room rate advertised on the desk, which always makes me smile! :o)
I would certainly return

I was disappointed that the room service menu only contained sandwiches, I felt this was very poor, as a business woman on my own I like to order room service so that I can work in the evening. I was most disappointed that the "on site parking" consisted of 4 spaces and thought this was really misleading. I chose this hotel specifically thinking I would be able to park.I did park but had to leave my car keys at reception and let them move my car, I was not happy about this at all.

The room was very clean and good value for the price we paid

We had a good deal on the room and it gave good value at that price. However it certainly would not have been worth the full price. The location was great close to the tube and walking distance to Regents park and several good restaurants.

Good location in a clean and friendly hotel for a reasonable price

We stayed the first 3 nights in a cheap, dirty and noisy place right in the heart of Piccadilly. As we already paid in advance we could not move out earlier. On the internet I found a very interessting last-minute offer (up to 60% discount of the official price!!) at the Best Western Swiss Cottage Hotel. So far I never had any complaints about the Best Western Hotels. Beeing a Swiss myself the name of the hotel of course caught my attention. We stayed two night in a twin superior room and after the bad experience of the first place we just loved this one! Very clean, just about 200 m to the next Underground (Swiss Cottage), good english breakfast and friendly staff (except when we first got there. The man on the reception was very rude to us for no reason at all, but all the others made it mor then up!). Definetly will stay there as well and recommend it. Look out for special last minutes rates!

Pleasant Stay

After searching for days on the internet for affordable yet good standard hotel I finally found Best Western Swiss Cottage. My bedroom was a little dated but had everything I needed. Tea and coffee facilities as well as TV good bathroom and quite a spacious bedroom. Staff were wonderful -so helpful and eager to please...were able to answer all questions regarding buses and tubes and gave relevant information. I would stay here again.

Although the room was clean and relatively comfortable there could be improvements. The pillows were very hard. The noise from the level about was disruptive. The patrons above us spent endless hours during the night walking back and forth. This cause us to not sleep as well as we would have liked. Next time I would ask for a room on the upper levels.

Better than what I'd expect for London

The hotel is in a good location, easy for transport to center and a nice walk to hampstead heath.
I was dissapointed because I paid for the deluxe rooom (one up from standard) and the bed was 2 doubles pushed together, rather than a double.
Also, the top bedcover was stained.
But, the rest of the room was clean and the staff perfectly friendly.

Was in a good location near Central School of Speech and Drama. Good location.

Stayed in a basement room which was fine, however in the hall and entering the room smelt musty and a little damp. Had an English breakfast which I would rate very poor. Bacon rock hard and sausage etc overcooked. If I did stay again I would go out for breakfast as half the cost and I am sure a better quality. Location was ideal as going to Central School of Speech and Drama. Good location beside the tube station.

Also the advert advised there was parking. It did not highlight street controlled parking, which is firstly very difficult to find a space, and also I had to move my car to a car park the following morning whilst I attended my meeting

This hotel is ok the only negative point is according to the facilities on the web it states that there is parking available on site this is true but there is space for three cars the facility should state this more clearly as trying to park on the road is impossible as it is resident parking only from 8am to 6.30pm.when I spoke to the guy on reception he did not seem interested in my comments nor did he help with any suggestions of alternative parking within the area. Therefore I would not stop here again.

Good hotel, good location

I cannot fault this hotel for the price. Perfect location for access to Central London being about 2 minutes walk from Swiss Cottage tube station. Parking was free and easily available on the street as we stayed Saturday night only. The hotel was quiet and seemed well managed. The double room (superior) was very big and comfortable. Will definitely stay again.

We had a superior room which was comfortable and had a great bathroom. Hotel is creaking a bit at the edges but clean and we had a good nights sleep.
The reception staff were blunt to the point of rudeness, perhaps a language/cultural issue but we were left feeling treated as if we were stupid and saw the same treatment dealt out to every guest who turned up.

Quite good

The hotel decor is much better than when I stayed here few years ago. Ours was a lower ground floor room with a very small toilet. Although all the modern facilities were there, the position of the commode was very awkward and difficult to use. Hope this will be rectified in future. Parking is difficult to find.

Good basic accomodation - prohibitivly expensive breakfast.

The plus points were: The room was spacious, it was quiet and the windows opened, which in London is a definate bonus. The locale is also exceptionally pleasant, with no road noise after 11.30 ish pm despite it being metres from Swiss Cottage tube station and Finchley Road. Negatives: The bathroom smelt of foul drains each time we used the sink and shower, but there was a door to shut the smells out of the bedroom. We didn't order breakfast as it was twice the price of a local cafe, but this was easy as was not inc. in the price. The mattress was thin and worn with springs poking up in places. If you want good basic accomodation close to London central, with no frills and are not bothered by decor, this will suit you fine... I do stress though that the decor is stuck somewhere c. 1990 ( think Inspector Morse from the early 90's and you're there!). Unfortunately the lift was out of order and we were on the 3rd floor, but the staff were ever present and very very pleasant and helpful - no faults there! It wasnt a faceless zombie's hotel but could definately do with some TLC.

Great value for money in a good location

Was very pleasantly surprised - a large, comfortable, well-furnished room in a London hotel for a reasonable price. Don't be put off by the slightly "Fawlty Towers" ambience in the reception and bar areas, the bedrooms are superb value for money.
Another big plus is that the hotel is a 2 minute walk from Swiss Cottage tube station.
Would definitely recommend and will use this hotel again.

My view on this Best Western

Decided to stay in London one night per week to break up my daily commute. Chose this hotel for its location (Swiss Cottage, nice part of London) and price - just a few yards from Swiss Cottage tube station makes it very convenient........... the price for a single room from £75 hard to match bearing in mind it is on a main commuter line (the Jubilee). Stayed, liked it, now booked one night per week ongoing.
The staff are very friendly, the rooms are cosy / querky. It feels more like an ageing house or B&B than a hotel belonging to a chain, and the rooms are a little tired; however the building and the rooms are old and with character, not the sterlile ambience of modern hotels.
I enjoy the area (plenty of restaurants) and enjoy the hotel..........for what you pay it's good value.

Fine!

The room we were given was right next to the breakfast room, but to be honest, the noise was not too bad! The bedroom was the smallest i had ever seen, but this was offset by a sizeable living room, and a perfectly adequate bathroom. The room was immaculately cleaned, but smelt of stale smoke, and was well past its best in terms of decor- however, large flat screen tv, and a nice lounge and bar in the hotel.

I stayed here with my wife for one night after visiting wembley stadium.

The room was a superior double room and it was very spacious. The en suite was spotlessly clean and the shower was great. The hotel is really well placed for buses and tubes but is on a quiet leafy street. It was very well placed for wembley and it was a short bus ride to Camden Market and Kings Cross. The staff were friendly and the bar area was elegant yet cosy. Would definitely stay again.
