I stayed here for one night and felt it was good value for money. My main comments would be, firstly, that rooms at the front are close to a very busy main road and whilst there was some noise this was nowhere near as bad as I had feared at first. Secondly the room was very small and whilst this wasn't a major problem it was slightly disconcerting to have the kettle on a shelf immediately above my head when I was sleeping!
Otherwise everything very OK

Rooms at The Delmere are small, but clean and well equipped. The hotel is well located, close to Paddington Station, comfortable, and perfectly suited for our purposes. Very affordable for London, and the jazz bar was a nice plus for a nightcap. We'd definitely stay there again, and other members of our band have said they intend to use the hotel on their personal trips to London as well. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly as well. All around it was a very good hotel for us.

Although my room was small, it was clean and the furnishings and fittings were of high quality. Nice to see a flat screen TV in the room, but shame it was at right angles to the end of the bed, meaning I had to move a chair and sit opposite it, looking up at the wall like a resident in an old folks home. The place advertises a 'jazz' bar, but when I went in there was no jazz playing and no one serving - I had to go fetch someone from reception to get a drink. But the bar was nicely decorated, if - again - a little small.
For what I paid I guess it's typical of hotels of this size - in fact, it's in a row of hotels in Sussex Gardens and it would be interesting to compare their prices and levels of accommodation, considering they're all working with the same basic building construction. I would stay there again as the surroundings were pretty good, staff were reasonably friendly and it's a very short walk to a street containing several small but interesting restaurants and a couple of pubs. Good for a night's stay in a bustling part of London.

I was very pleased with this room - did me nicely just as a quick stop-over . I needed to be fairly close to Oxford Circus so hotel fulfilled that criterion. Am short of money so a clean room with nice hot shower for under 50 was a good find!

My husband and i stayed here for 2 nights, room was small but very clean but we could not find anywhere to plug our phone charges and my straightners!.on leaving we were told we had to pay for overnight parking although we were not told of this on check in, [£15 per night,] our car was parked on the street for the first night this is free on bank holidays, but otherwise £3 per hour, so if your on a budget think about parking, there are only two parking places at the hotel but be sure to ask about parking fees. also booking on line was cheaper ours was £118 for two nights whilst my mother in law booked on the phone and was told the same nights would be £235.00 but she could not go because she had not been well.A very good hotel for the money and staff were very polite dispite a confrontation about parking fees which they waiverd.we will go back but might not take the car.

I arrived in London from Africa and just needed a comfortable room for the night to get some sleep. Although the room was small, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room immaculately clean and again, although small the bathroom was fine with plenty of towels, shampoo etc. The broadband internet connection worked perfectly and had a strong signal. It was also complementary, something that hotels four times the price often do not provide but should. I would definitely return and suggest friends to use.

The facilities in the room was also as good as any more established hotels whilst still retaining a warm and cosy environment. The location is very accessible to all attractions and airport, as well as the airport. It is also safe and ver convenient for single female travellers.

If you're looking for good quality accomodation this is it!
Rooms ARE on the small side, but this is compensated for by the fact that that they are clean, well provided for in the room itself and in a central location.
Parking isn't great with only two spaces allocated for each of the hotels in the row, but ample facilities around.
I use lots of hotels for business travel, and for the money (45) this is GOOD value.

This hotel is very conveniently located as are the others in Sussex gardens.Very close to Paddington tube and the Heathrow express, 7min walk Room was of a reasonable size for London although it was noisy, our room being on the ground floor above the kitchen/dining room.
It was not possible to control the temperature and as a consquence it was a hot room even though it was only 13deg C out. We could open the windowbut this increased the noise. There is no air conditioning.
Not specific to this hotel but a warning if paying by credit card. As with most restaurants and hotels in the UK all CC transactions now are "chip and pin". If you dont have a pin for your CC you may have payment problems as some hotels systems would not accept a signature. Some hotels can accept payment by"not in attendance" on the card but some ask for cash.

A good small hotel. Rooms are clean and a reasonable size (for London). It has a restuarant, bar and room service food (not something you seem to get in London at this price level!). My only (minor) criticisms are: 1) only one single socket in the room and this was needed for the TV; 2) Laterooms did not allow payment by Diners card, but the hotel does accept tis card; Decor, while clean, is a bit stuck in the 80's.

I work in London and often need a hotel to stay in after work evening functions and as this is not covered by expenses I need to find a suitable hotel, location and price. The BW Delmere offers exactly what I require. Stayed in a single room for 40 on a Thursday night. The room was small but did everything I needed it to. The bathroom was small, yet clean and functional and as I was only in the room for one hour whilst not asleep then it was perfect. V close to Paddington and have recommended to other colleagues who require the same type of service as it beats the 90 at the Marlybone Travelodge we had been spending.

I fortunately was only staying the one night, and was just using the place to sleep, however if i was using it as a base i would have been dissapointed, my room was incredibly small (my bathroom at home is bigger than the whole room and ensuite) and i was on the road side of the hotel it was very noisy all night, if i wasn't so tired it would have been an issue. i paid 40 for my room and that was fine. i would have been incredibly dissapointed if i had paid the full asking price.

I searched for a "cheap" (when the dollar/pound ratio went against us) for 10 of us in church tour.
Happily, the Best Western Delmere was as my research had showed. Tiny
rooms, but fresh and clean. The little Italian restaurant/breakfast room
"La Perla"in the basement was very satisfactory. The dinners were
delightful. Al said his meat sauce was the best one he'd ever had. The
continental breakfast had a nice selection, and one could get hot food if
desired.

Sussex Gardens was a street full of identical old homes with elaborate front
porches. Front rooms were a bit noisy from street traffic, but not
uncomfortable. It is one block from Paddington station, which made it handy
for the Big Bus Tour starting around the corner, and our train trip to
Windsor. The metro was at the same area, which is nice and close. It could
have been walked with rolling cases, if needed.

We recommend a cafe two blocks over on Spring St. called ASK!. Handsome
modern surroundings, some outside dining, a huge bouqet at the entry, and
fresh good food. It looked very "in".

Just returned from a seven-day stay at The Delmere and this is what we thought of the Hotel: Staff -WONDERFUL, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL; Hotel - CHARMING, CLEAN, MODERN, WELL-MAINTAINED; Location - GREAT; Continental Breakfast - ENOUGH VARIETY TO SATISFY OUR ENTIRE FAMILY; Rooms - SMALL BUT VERY PRETTY, CLEAN. Choosing a hotel online was challenging because photos and comments are very misleading. We chose The Delmere because it was part of a large chain and felt if there were any problems, we might have some recourse. We were right - many of the hotels we considered and were listed on this website were in the area of The Delmere, and we realized they were somewhat overrated. The staff at The Delmere was very helpful anytime we needed to book a tour, ask directions or figure out the best way back to Heathrow. The only negative thing we could say is that it was too warm. Leaving the windows open did little to provide relief. Be sure to ask for a fan from the front desk - we didn't know that was an option until our last day!!! Even though it is small and our family had to occupy two rooms, we loved The Delmere and would recommend it to anyone!

My wife and I stayed at the Delmere for a weekend in June 2003.We have stayed quite happily at other hotels in the Sussex Gardens area, which is a very handy location for "doing London", but felt particularly comfortable in this 'small but perfectly formed' establishment. Accommodation is pleasant, clean and cosy although not spacious. Staff (mostly young and multi-lingual) were genuinely welcoming, attentive and efficient. The La Perla restaurant was very much to our liking with a restful decor & atmosphere, interesting menu, good food nicely served. We were able to enjoy an intimate dinner without the heat, noise and hassle of many pricier London restaurants. For those working to a comparatively modest budget seeking comfort and friendly service the Delmere represents excellent value. Please don't all book at once...we want to return!

Close to Paddington Station. If you have to catch the early flight from Heathrow, this is a good choice hotel. Room was small but clean, and all facilities were working ok (tv, shower etc). Breakfast included (I was positively surprised with the selection, being used into the 'English breakfast').
Metro station is also within the walking distance, couple of restaurants nearby.
I was a little bit concerned choosing the place to stay for the weekend in London, but Delmere is quite OK (and the opinions in the guestbook do matter, I almost booked another hotel in the area but was lucky enough to see other people;s opinions on this site).

My wife and I stayed at the Delmere in 1996 on our honeymoon. I do not think it possible that a more quaint and welcoming hotel could be found in London. As Delma has already said, "breakfast is a cut above the typical fare." Unlimited quantities of freshly baked goods; cereals; fruits; cheeses and meats were available. We left the hotel every morning quite satisfied and ready for the walks around London. Returning to the Delmere each night after a long day exploring the city and the surrounding countryside was like coming home. I'm certain we'll return "home" to the Delmere on our next trip to London.

My wife and I stayed at the Delmere...
My wife and I stayed at the Delmere twice for short periods (3 days each) and twice for longer periods (8 days each) during 1999 and 2000. The small hotel is neat, clean, and fairly quiet. Our rooms have been small and cozy. The management at reception are quite cordial and helpful, and most of them are trilingual. The restaurant is convenient and well managed. Continental breakfast at the Delmere is a cut above the typical fare, and tables are covered with neatly pressed linens. We spend most of our days in London or in places reachable by the tube or Brit Rail. The proximity of Paddington is a plus. Sometimes we walk or jog through nearby Hyde Park or Kensington. One Sunday afternoon we strolled over to the Speaker's Corner and marveled at the colorful spectacle of sight and sound. Paddington Station is a mere skip and a jump away, and we enjoy arriving by Heathrow Express and, when we leave, checking our bags at Paddington and arriving at Heathrow in a dozen minutes or so. The tube at Paddington, of course, carries us wherever we wish to go in central London. We have read about other hotels with higher ratings or cheaper rates than the Delmere, but we find ourselves coming back to this cozy, neat and friendly hotel. We'll probably find our way back again before the end of this year (2001). Perhaps familiarity breeds content.
