Well situated

The hotel was really good value for the situation as we were within walking distance of Tower Bridge and easy access to tubes. We were very impressed with the rooms and friendly hotel staff.

Lovely clean and staff couldn't do enough for us

Great hotel although a little out of the way, get a taxi. Emailed ahead and asked for a room upgrade and got put in the Jude Suite! Beautiful big room, huge soft bed and little balcony if the weathers right!! Hotel bar was 2 stools so not very intimate, No mini bar and no room service for drinks which surprised us!! So popped over to sainsburys across the road to stock up!
Meal in Gregg Wallace's restaurant was a little expensive for posh 70's nosh but all stff very good and food was great! I'll stay again if I get a discount :-)

Better than expected

The hotel reception and room were first class, but, the retaurant was awful. three of us sat down for dinner two selections made became not available after the order was taken. There is too much competition around for this restaurant to prosper at this level.

Spur of the moment booking!

Having had one too many wines my husband and I decided to book a hotel, as it wasnt planned we wasnt all that fussed where we stayed as long as it was clean!
The hotel is lovely!! We are orginally from Bermondsey so it was lovely to be back in our old area!
we have paid well above what we paid (£106.00) for one night elsewhere in London and was not at all impressed!
The only Negatives are:
we arrived at gone 1am and had to wait for the night staff to greet us then we had to wait 30 mins whilst their system rebooted as they could not find our booking. lucky i had my blackberry on me!!
Also i booked a double and we were put in a twin room - which wasnt too bad considering we were tired and rather sloshed!!
A comfortable night - clean hotel amazing shower!!
We are booking again!!!

Weekend in london

The Bermondsey Hotel is a brilliant place to stay for a weekend in London. We were there between Christmas and New Year with teenage boys. Free access to wifi, apple tv in the bedroom, really chic rooms.
Location is perfect for going to events at the O2 - river boat takes about half hour. Its a 10 minute walk to London Bridge underground station passing the London Dungeon, 15 minute walk to the Tower of London, passing some great pubs and restaurants.

Great hotel, not too far from London's main attractions...

The first thing we noticed was the super-friendly and accomodating staff. The hotel's location is not that bad, especially if you don't mind spending a couple of quid on a taxi or if know your way around the tube-systems. We actually enjoyed that the hotel is situated in a rather quiet part of London. You get enough of the huss and buzz trekking around more crowded parts of London for your daytime/nighttime excursions. The hotel-rooms are really cool, clean and are big compared to London-standard. We absolutely enjoyed our stay in London, and the quality of the hotel was a big contributor to that! Thanks!

Modern and cosy

I enjoyed my one night stay in this hotel; it was well designed and had a modern but cosy feel to it. My only criticism would be that the room was very hot, during my stay in late November, despite me using the air conditioning. It is in a good location for public transport and for a trendy urban atmosphere. The shower was amazing!

Hallowe'en at The Bermondsey

This is the most i have ever spent on a hotel and you really can tell the difference when you do!
The room was just perfect and i loved that our bed faced so we could look out the window! The shower was just awesome!
The staff were brilliant and very quick and effieicient! The food (especially the crossiants) was fresh and good value!
The reception and bar area was dotted with pumpkins and what we found out when we got there was that in the evening there was a cinema screen up in the square playing films! What a great added touch!
One thing i didn't quite know, the closest tube station was about a 20mins walk which made my journey home with my luggage a little more tiresome but not off-putting!!
I will definately be returning!

Great weekend in lovely hotel

It was my first time in London and really enjoyed the weekend. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely bar and our room was clean and the bed lovely. The only two negatives: it took a while to figure out how the TV worked, would have been good if there were some instructions and the powerpoint for the kettle didn't work.

Spot on

We had the best weekend........from the moment we arrived we had a brilliant experience. Everything we requested was seen to immediatley ice bucket, jug of milk etc. room was not large but fine for 2. Shower was great with a 3 rain settings, tv had lots of channels, very modern decor. The bed was the best I have ever slept on- pure luxury! Breakfast was fantastic with so much choice. Thanks to Colin who cooked what you wanted however you liked it and with a very cheeky grin. Location great as just a walk from Tower Bridge and a very interesting antiques market on a Friday in the square- best to buy your day travel tickets in advance so you can hop on the bus to the tube as it is a long walk with a suitcase. This weekend was our 30 year wedding anniversary celebration and we were with friends who were also celebrating 30 years of marriage later this month- this hotel made our weekend very special indeed. Thanks to all the staff from room 603 & 604

The food and drinks at the bar are a bit overpriced but there are good value qualiy pubs nearby with good food...the Woolpack was vey good. Great area close to all of London's attractions, very close to the Thames restuarants and bars, lvely eveningviews of Tower Bridge. Only air-con ventilaton in the room may be uncomfortable for some but we were cmfortable with it.

Weekend at the O2

When I booked the room the day before, I wasn't sure about the area, but decided to go ahead as I had little time left to make sure that we had a room to go to. This is an area under redevelopment but turned out to be fantastic. The core of the stay was heavily influenced by the friendliness and attentiveness of the hotel team, from the manager to every other person that we spoke to. There was always a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is lovely, high quality and every aspect well designed. Not too far from the O2 but you will need to take a cab or as we found out coming back, you can take the river clipper taxi service at £5.50 or less with Oyster. Outside the hotel on a Friday is an antique market and on a Saturday a fresh food market, both excellent and nice to watch whilst having lunch or breakfast. There are two more bars in the concourse.
Borough market is a brilliant experience on a Saturday morning and walks either side of London Bridge taking in Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe theatre and so much more. We thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone. However, if you are wheeling a case on a hot day from London Bridge Station, don't bother, get a cab, although it is only 15/20 minutes walk! We will know next time and there will be a next time very soon.

Bermondsey Hotel - Chic Boutique

We really enjoyed our stay at this unique hotel. Great atmosphere in the square, and the hotel is great. The rooms were well designed and well thought out - for example a first class working kettle and hairdryer - the type you get at home, not your usual afterthoughts. Brilliant shower and very comfortable bed. We had a meal with the family in Alfies, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The situation was good too, ten minute easy walk to London Bridge (don't believe other reviews which say it is quite a long walk - not true!) - probably only downside is the fact there are no parking facilities within the hotel - we parked at the NCP - again a ten minute walk, but it was £20 per day which can be quite expensive if you are staying for more than a couple of days. We would certainly stay again - very pleasant stay.

Great modern hotel

This hotel is lovely, modern, clean with friendly staff. However, it is in a tube blackspot, so if you're expecting to get to the West End quickly, forget it. We walked to Tower Hill. Poor signposting meant that we couldn't actually find the station. We walked to Borough. Fine, but not much good for the West End. In short, this hotel is great for Borough Market or walks along the Thames, but West End? Forget it.

Good for the Leisure Traveller

For the leisure traveller this hotel would be great - for the business traveller its a little inconvenient. Hotel is in very interesting area with very eclectic array of boutique shops and galleries - particularly the London Glassblowng Gallery - stunning! Borough Markets as well. However, the Hotel is a good 15-20 minute walk to the nearest Tube (London Bridge) which for the business traveller is a disadvantage. They also only order private mini-cabs (who take only cash - they do not take Card payment) if you want a taxi. Again inconvenient for the busines traveller. Would have been helpful if the Reception had advised of this when they booked the car as I would have ensured I had cash. .

Beautiful hotel, wonderful if overly posh food and amazing location

Arrived at Euston and after a short trip via tube to London Bridge this hotel was only then a short taxi ride away. It is located a mile or two away from Tower Bridge and therefore the HMS Belfast and The Tower of London and quite a few other main tourist attractions. The hotel itself was situated in a small quiet square that was amazingly quiet even with the weekend market outside and a bar and supermarket opposite. The lounge although small was relaxing and you felt instantly at ease. The hotel rooms were accessed by a door behind reception which made entrance and exit somewhat obvious although it felt discreet nonetheless. My brother and I booked a double room each to ensure a double bed each and we were not dissapointed - the rooms were gorgeous, with floor to ceiling windows, Mac tv's, a very nice bathroom although I did not like the shower very much as mine appeared to not want to work for me! We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant on the evening and although the food was beautiful it was very posh which could make some people uncomfortable and the choice was not very varied. Breakfast the next day was a lot nicer though as it was a good old Full English! Controlling the temperature was hard in the rooms as it was all down to air conditioning so it took a lot to avoid either freezing or boiling. The beds were wonderfully comfortable though and a good night sleep can be ensured. Generally I would recommend this hotel highly if you don't mind a bit of pretention from the hotel itself and the service charges automatically added to any order you place. It is a fantastic location although hailing a taxi is a bit troublesome without a short walk, you could quite easily have a leisurely stroll to Tower Bridge however and from there you can access most of London (definetly invest in a tube pass or Oyster Card which you can top up whenever you are back in London and makes the tube a breeze!) This is a 5 star hotel and definetly worth visiting if you have the money and the inclination. (Top tip - Book through somewhere like laterooms to avoid paying through the nose!)
