The worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in! It stank of unwashed sweat!! Basement room, very hot room even with the heating off and with windows that I felt unsafe to be left open at night for security, then in the morning the room stank of kitchen smells. Filthy room plastic under sheet, a real sweat hole! My clothes the following day smelt of the room!

The room that I stayed in was in the the cellar and was very dated, especially the 3 channel TV.
I would note, however, that is was clean, the bed was comfy and the shower was envigorating.
Only actually slept in the hotel so couldn`t really comment on the quality of any of the other facilities. The breakfast was probaly only adaquate but in a rush so proably didn`t make as much of it as I could. Overall it was a last minute booking and it was cheap so I probably got what I paid for.

Terrible value for money

Customer service very poor, english language skills sub-standard. Room standard and decor very tired. Bed, well it was more of a camp bed with worn springs and gave a terrible night with next to no sleep. Breakfast was quoted as a continental but all you got was fruit juice and a low quality bread roll with butter and jam. Just dreadful. No idea how it gets three stars.

OK

Nice big room, with window that actually opened and had bars over it so was safe. Decor badly needs updating and carpet is disgusting, although you can see the cleaners have done their best. Bed was basically a camp bed athough was pretty comfortable. Full size bathroom with shower over bath. I needed to cancel last night of stay which wasnt a problem and was fully refunded. Reception staff are extremely helpful and communal areas looked nice enough. Front door permanently locked with 24 hour manned reception, keys have to be handed in as you leave the hotel and to be honest, anyone can ring the doorbell and ask for any key which is a bit worrying.

Not for business travellers, avoid basement room.

It seems the receptionists do not follow up on your booking requests. I requested a VAT invoice plus a room away from the basement floor. On arrival, the hotel didn't honour either.
It was a mission for obtaining a VAT invoice. The hotel claimed that it was up to laterooms to supply the invoice and initially refused to give me one. I thought this was ridiculous. I eventually got one when Laterooms contacted the hotel on my behalf but be warned. For such as simple request, the hotel really messed me about. It took several days to sort out.
In terms of rooms, I recommend anybody not to stay in the basement room. The one I stayed in was very humid, the bathrooms are tiny and you will struggle to get a mobile phone signal. The rooms on a high floors are much better.
I've stayed in over 12 hotels in this area. I wouldn't say it's the worst hotel but it's a long way from being the best.

Shambolic Hotel - Awful room and totally unacceptable for any price!

On arrival this hotel appeared to be reasonable from the outside and indeed the foyer area appeared clean. However after being directed to a basement room we opened the door and were horrified. To say it was small hot and stuffy would be an underestimation. The decor was awfully tired and the carpet appeared filthy and ill fitting. There were places where the carpet came 3-4 inches up the furniture... The tea, coffee and milk left was not adequate for two people. I asked to be moved but no rooms were available, and the staff didn't appear interested. I'm not surprised as I heard many people complaining about various things. Back in the room the tv was an old portable, with one just about watchable channel. Towels were ok but were not changed the following day, nor was the tea, coffee etc replenished. The bathroom itself put me off having a shower the first night, but was an ok size. Given the apparent state of the cleanliness, I did not sleep in the bed for the two nights I stayed, I slept on the top of the bed.
Given all this, I was very glad to leave, and looked forward to a decent night's sleep in my own bed. Sorry Bayswater Inn, even though I cannot comment on rooms on other floors our room needed complete renovation.

Family room 401 for the Nottinghill Carnival

Family room was two singles and a double on forth floor, Basic clean but aged paintwork.
Double bed had seen better days.
The reception staff were helpful in the main, night shift guy was not polite about my wife and her friend, when we came in late after a show.
The Hotel breakfast and food is basic but ok. OK for shopping or short stay if your looking at romance forget it !

Hotel needs to be updated as very out dated

The hotel was clean but in need of decorating as rooms were old fashioned and decor was very badly marked. The breakfast was not appertising there wer bread rolls butter jam or a spoon full of cereal in a very small bowl left in open bowl with no cover.Glad only stayed for one night as the lock on the door to the room did not lock we need to put chair under the handle to prevent anyone entering the room . Experience that don't want to repeat

Great location, awful experience

This hotel is not recommended for the independent traveler. It caters to youth groups, the included 'breakfast' is a joke, customer service is beyond rude and accoutrements such as television, wifi etc. are either substandard or do not exist. The last two times I arrived there, I was told that I was being moved to another hotel (less convenient location), despite the fact that I had booked months in advance and had prepaid the first time.
Location is the only reason to stay there. There are other hotels nearby that MUST surely be an upgrade. This is definitely not a three star hotel. Beware!!

Unbelivable standards

Well the staff were so unhelpful, and had little understanding of the English language. We asked for an iron & ironing board, we got a blank look & they said whats iron!!! The bed mattress was so used it was out of shape and sloping. The cups in the room for the tea & coffee are polystyrene NOT china, some what off putting. The bath matt was paper!! most odd and tacky. The bath towels we not much bigger than hand towels. To top it off after our evening out came back to the hotel room and could smell sewage in the room and bathroom. We did not have breakfast as we didn't fancy it after what we had experienced. I complained to the reception manager and he said to write to the hotel manager he wrote her name on a card, i asked for her sirname and he said he could not spell it. For a 3 star hotel i thought this was really bad experience, i have worked in 3,4 & 5 star hotels andthere are minimum standards. £70 bed & breakfast rooms are better than this hotel.

This hotel is a reasonable budget hotel, but the rooms are very worn and tired, and the beds/mattresses are so old, lumpy and collapsed that they are simply impossible to sleep on. The first room I was offered was on the ground floor, it was completely dark even during the day, and stank. the second room was on a higher floor, with nice views to Prince's Sq, with a good bathroom, but the TV remote was missing and so had to move to a third room. All rooms had old and chipped furniture, but the real problem was the bed/mattress: old, lumpy, collapsed, on a metal base, with every spring digging into you. Why the hotel is overall acceptable at a budget price, the beds are impossible to sleep on. Avoid until there is a refurbishment. The breakfast was also absolutely minimal - rolls, jam and cereal. There are also many noisy youth groups staying, so be warned... On the other hand, the reception staff were very helpful and friendly in dealing with problems they must be very well aware of.

Last minute overnight booking - what a surprise

At the modest (discounted) price I paid for this last minute booking, I was filled with trepidation when I arrived, despite the ideal location in a pleasant leafy square of grand buildings. I need not have worried! The receptionist was helpful and friendly. My room was compact but not cramped. It was clean and tidy, with TV (multi-channel), tea/coffee making facilities, and on a freezing cold night, the room was lovely and warm. The bathroom (with shower) was adequate, my only gripe being the small sink and narrow access to it, (luckily I am very slim). Close to the Tube, and only a few minutes to Knightsbridge and Kensington High Street, this hotel is very well located. I recommend the Bayswater Inn, and will certainly stay there again when next in London.

Better budget hotel nearby

This is a pile them high sell them cheap hotel. The decor is straight from the 1980's and the rooms are fairly dusty. Yes its cheap and the location is good but there are better buget hotels in London. Was given a room on the lower ground floor which was next to the lift shaft and all you could hear was the lift moving every second also it was under a gangway and the sound from the foot steps above made it hard to relax the shower had no hot water. I complained and to be fair for the second night they did move me to a better room. The hotel is used as an overflow hotel for other hotels when they have over booked and the reception at times was choas. I was expecting a buget hotel it just that i have stayed at better in London and in the bayswater area defo would pay the full rates to stay here.

Pretty good value

Nice hotel. Would have been far better without the smokers who flicked lit cigarettes out their window to land on our window sill and fill our room and ensuite with stink. That was before they set off the fire alarm... Sorry guys, but other smokers followed procedure and went out onto the street to smoke. Why couldn't you have done the same?!
If not for that, handy location, good place to stay.

Pleasant, basic hotel for 1 night

Booked the Bayswater Inn but when we arrived they had overbooked, so moved us to their sister hotel, the Lancaster Hotel and given a free taxi transfer. We didn't see the rooms at Bayswater Inn but were told by reception that the Lancaster Hotel was better. The Lancaster was nice enough - clean and comfy. Quite a small room but this is the norm in most central London hotels. There was no mini bar and one pillow each. But we requested more pillows, which were delivered within minutes. Good location; a few mins walk to two tube stations, restaurants, etc. Not somewhere I would want to stay for a lengthy trip but ideal for a few nights.

Cheap, almost value for money

This hotel lacks care. It is cheap so you shouldn't expect too much. Our room was spacious and clean but polystyrene cups (dried milk meant for coffee), one tea bag each, and a paper bath mat! The reception staff seemed friendly and competent. Breakfast was poor, bread baps brown, white or seeded, butter, no low fat option, only full fat milk. Offering alternatives doesn't cost more just takes vision and effort. The tea, dispensed from a large pot was extremely wek, even for my taste, and I don't like strong tea. Staff serving breakfast spoke very poor English and so didn't meet & great very well, you were left just to fend for your self.
Would I go back, no, there was nothing special to go back for.
