Amsterdam Hotel out of 5 Customer Rating

Stayed overnight in suite - rather care worn decor and furniture, but essentially clean and relatively quiet considering location. Just a dribble of a shower though.

Really fantastic

We loved this Hotel, the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the very helpful chap on reception who took care to talk to the children and offered us a map and a free copy of that days Independent newspaper and showed us to our room (room 1) which was brilliant, all too often we have booked a family room for four and been given a room with two doubles which our 7 year old son and 6 year old daughter don't really appreciate, but here we had one double and two proper single beds (all very comfy), lots of space and a lovely clean bathroom with plenty of towels and a lovely big shower (which was lovely and warm) . The hotel offered free WiFi and even had a computer for guests to use for free. The location is ideal, right in Kensington, a 15 minute walk to the Science, Natural History and Victoria and Albert Museums and The Albert Hall etc. The hotel was very quiet at night despite it's location near to the high street. We had an evening meal in Wagamama's which was just around the corner but there was plenty of choice of restaurants, cafes and take aways nearby. We couldn't believe we got all of that for just £150 for four with breakfast (continental but very filling and perfectly adequate, £3 extra each gets you a cooked breakfast). I will not hesitate to recommend this lovely gem of a hotel to friends and family and we will certainly be back!!

City oasis

My daughter and I visited for the Olympia horse show and find London a bit overpowering, but couldn't have found a friendlier place to stay. Reception staff were ultra welcoming. A refurb meant no breakfast room and no cooked breakfast, so we had been automatically upgraded to a suite. Continental breakfast was delivered to the suite on time, and we could make our own hot drinks in our kitchen. Plenty of food for both of us. The suite was warm and cosy (snow and ice outside) and extremely clean. Comfy beds. Comfy sofas and tv. Lovely bathroom. Very handy for the tube station and Earls Court Road. Ate at two different restaurants for our two evening meals - good choice and not too expensive. Reception offered to keep our suitcase for the day whilst we went to Olympia, which we accepted. It was more convenient and immediately available when we went back for it. All in all, very good value for money and highly recommended.

Very enjoyable stay and a lovely room

The staff were excellent. The room was very nice, warm and comfortable. The baggage storeage on the day and on departure day made our visit very enjoyable. Thank you for your hospitality.

The Amsterdam

Wasn't sure what to expect. Looked a bit quirky from the pictures I'd seen beforehand. All in all was ok. Had a downstairs room and felt like a converted house as the room was 10 feet from reception. Breakfast was again average. Just tinned fruit, cereal and toast unless a supplement is paid for hot food, but that didn't seem worth the risk!! Worst aspect by far was the paper thin walls. Could hear people in the next room breathing!! Not a hope of sleeping in past 8am...

Very convenient

This was located a 2 minute walk from Earls Court tube and surrounded by many places to eat. Although continental breakfast was included I opted to eat in one of the nearby places (cooked was extra). Free WiFi with a code you had in the room, pretty compact room. I was adjacent the lift which I did hear but it didn't wake me up. The hotel was in the process of being renovated, my room was perfectly acceptable. Also of note there is a free internet terminal and a printer, which is great if you are booking online offers and need to print a ticket, other hotels please note! Although the breakfast let it down I was still overall very happy with the hotel.

The sofa was more comfortable than the beds...

Stayed a single night in room 1. The hotel was generally clean but undergoing some refurbishment so in places other than my room there was a little mess. It has good access to places to eat along Earl's Court Road and is less than a minute from Earl's Court underground station.
However, the bed was very hard and the pillows worse; the pillows were made of some compacted synthetic material that made them lie neatly but had very little spring making them desparately uncomfortable. Eventually gave up and slept on the sofa in my room, which turned out to be significantly more comfortable despite being too short for me.
All in all, the thing that a hotel needs to get right most is its beds and this one failed completely for me.

GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT VALUE

Despite a problem with the booking through LateRooms, the hotel itself was brilliant. Great location (just around the corner from Earls Court) and large, spacious rooms. A little noisy at night towards the front but excellent service and value. Highly recommended!
