When we turned up to this hotel the reception area was ok, then we had to find our room which was like a rabbit warren, we were right down at the basement , to find our double room had 6 beds in it! The cleanliness of the beds were fine, but shower curtain was filthy and very cold water, I wouldn't recommened this hotel to any one! We paid 69 pounds and I wouldn't have paid 10,

Staying on top floor, elevator not working and no assistance offered for luggage. No fire escape from top or second floors. The only exit is down three stories of narrow staircase. I am very surprised that this passes regulations. Decor drab and in need of refreshing. Shower head retainer hanging off the bathroom wall, I had to fix this with a pair of scissors - This has been developing for weeks if not months. Bath and sink would not drain. Breakfast lacklustre. Nothing wrong with this place that a willingness to provide a decent service wouldn't sort out. It is a pity that I had this experience as this hotel is really well situated for me and I make this journey often.

The Bayswater area is fun and cosmopolitan. Central with a good range of restaurants. The Hotel was pretty standard. Breakfast was included but this was just cereal, coffee, toast and a not very good selection of cheeses and meats. I would have liked the option of paying a bit for a cooked breakfast.
The rooms were not very well sound-proofed and my colleagues suffered from car alarms going off outside. My own room was fine but plain.

If youre looking for cheap accomodation in london with good location this is the place for you.
Close to Paddington underground and best value for money around that area. Only negative is lack of hot water. When i checked in after a long journey I had to have a quick cold shower. Next morning the water was hot but after 10am I noticed there was no hot water again. Also the bed linen was clean and tidy but the top cover sheet had stains on it (off putting). I stayed at another place not to far away from there in a same range (50-60 pounds per night) and it didnt come close to Alexander standards. I would recommend it as best you can find in 2-3 star range. Otherwise splash more money and get 4star accomodation.

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, room was on the ground floor with a big window that didn't lock so had to take valuables with me. Convenenient hotel for Paddington and ideal for business trip solo or with colleagues, with big rooms and multiple beds.

Without prejudice.
In my opinion the rooms were tired - not very nice and in need of total refurbishment.
The initial room I was given was like being in an oven, the heat bellowing into the corridor when the door was opened. After an argument I was moved, however the second room wasnt much better.
The breakfast was poor, the yoghurt being left on the table in the soaring heat.
Orange juice was orange in colour - didnt taste of much.
I would not recommend this hotel at all.

To charge 80 per night for this room is robbery!! I have never before stayed in a hotel with a bathroom 'lifted' from a very poor cruise-ship. The bath-room 'unit' was tiny and a single 'pod', so inevitably the shower flooded all the floor-space and threatened to flood the bedroom as well. Diabolical.

The quality of the room was dreadful. The decor was circa 1970, the room smelt of cabbage and the bathroom was such that by sitting on the toilet, you could also wash your feet and hands without moving (which I guess could save you time if in a rush). The heating in my room did not work and nor did the replacement radiator. I asked for a replacement room which I was given by the receptionist, who to his credit, was very helpful. I also asked for an early breakfast as I needed to leave before 7am but this could not be accommodated. At 52 I guess the room would not be plush but this hotel is in desperate need of a facelift and some TLC.

Room was adequate, warm and clean. TV reception was bad but I didn't report it, breakfast was dreadful I know it was a budget price but happy shopper yoghurts, cold toast and watered down orange juice, someone was taking the mickey. The food gives visitors a bad impression of the UK. It was close to the Paddington tube Station and their were some pubs and places to eat nearby. I would use it again but its not top of my list.
Good stay, very nice area, quieter than what I would think before being in the room. Food OK but sufficient for a breakfast! Bite oldfashion design but seductive though. Would be back there

We got this room for 40 for the night and for that price it was good value for money, the room was clean although quite small and it provided a very centrally located base for our trip to London. However I wouldn't be writing such a good review if we had paid full price in fairness. The bathroom only had a shower rather than a bath and the complimentary teas and coffees were limited - maybe that's what you get in hotels these days I don't really know. The accomodation was no better and no worse than a Travelodge. Can't comment on the food as we decided to skip breakfast in the morning.

Good quality sheets, comfortable bed, clean room and excellent location at a very good price.
The breakfast was very poor with the cheapest ingredients and watered down orange juice, but regard it as free because the rooms are such good value and eat breakfast elsewhere. You can eat ad lib, should you desire and consume enough toast to last you the whole day, if cost is your driving factor. Easy walk to Hyde Park, good tube connections, not too niosy when we stayed.

I stayed at the hotel in the beginning...
I stayed at the hotel in the beginning of Jan 2009, and I was expecting the worst experience ever from other reviews... but I was so surprised!
The hotel is clean and well presented, though a little dated. The front desk was helpful and polite, and couldn't apologise enough for the lack of double rooms (I'd requested a double, but they only had twins available - Laterooms issue, not the hotel.) We were up over 4 flights of stairs, with no lift, but it wasn't too much trouble.
The room was small, and the bathroom even smaller, but we only slept there, so space was not an issue for our needs. Breakfast was simple with toast and cereal, and it was as much as you wanted, not bad for a day of sight-seeing ahead!
Overall, this hotel is not a Hilton, but for a quick visit to London, what more could you need!

Great location, just a 2 minute walk from the Paddington tube. Fairly upmarket area- so no worries on travelling alone to this hotel.
I was in the 'overflow' place across the road from the main hotel. The room was basic, but immaculately clean- ensuite toilet and shower (which was clean and very good).
The only downsides were the lack of noise insulation from the very old style windows (not a busy traffic area- just kept making me think the window was open), and the fact that the guy on the reception could speak very limited English.
All in all, great value for money and clean. Breakfast was included but I didn't get up in time to sample it.
I would definitely return to this hotel.

Pure value for money. Room was clean with a hot shower and simple breakfast in dining room. But wonderfully close to Paddington station. Only issue was that I had requested a double bed but was given a twin room. Helpful guy on reception if given a smile. Perfect for an overight stay if travelling through London but expect functionality not luxury, but at 40 for two was very happy with that!

Good central hotel, good front desk. roof was spacious. bathroom a bit of a tight fit. Only drawback with this hotel is that its quite a traffic ridden road to the front and the windows are not sound proofed. Also needs more soundproofing re walls etc as I had a very noisy couple up stairs. I didn't get to sleep at all.

The room I was in was in a hotel across the road. The room was bare, no telephone and no hand towel. As I was travelling alone, I didn't feel very safe which is a high priority for me. Very basic but the price of 35 for a double ensuite (for a single person) was okay. Wouldn't stay here again.

Paid 40 for a single room and ended up with a room for three people (double and single). Had ensuite and compared to other places around this area for less than 50, it was better than most. Clean, tidy and fine for a short stay. Not modern but fine if you just want somewhere to sleep for the evening.

Excellent value for money; adequate sized room (i.e good for a London hotel); everything clean, working etc with only down side that if the quality of the window had been better it could have reduced the noise of a nearby compressor. Breakfast was merely adequate, but at 40 for B&B that is nit-picking
Friendly service and a good value price for an overnight trip. The rooms are quite small but perfectly adequate. Convenient location within a few minutes walking to Paddington Station.
The breakfast wasn't the best I've ever had but it depends on what you want. A couple of slices of toast before catching the train home was fine for me but only white bread was available which was diappointing as I'm not a white bread fan.
Overall I would stay here again on a short trip.
