Misleading charges

Late Rooms and this hotel misled me for the first ever time.
THE PRICE YOU PAY AT THE HOTEL IS £90.
WRONG........it was £90 PLUS a charge for credit card payment on arrival.

Great if your not fussy and only want the room to sleep only

Bring own batteries as the remote and clock do not work
Nice staff but not at all professional
Finishing is very poor
Nice mirrors bed and curtains
Shower room is nice but again attention to detail is an issue
Limited power sockets either make tea or watch tv in room 16
Also this room is small for two people bed is a decent size
Lack of information given to make sale
We Specifically asked for a bath and I made sure they knew what I was talking about by saying bath tub and they said yes all rooms have baths come to find out on the day that they have bathroom with no baths which dose not make sense to me

The Hotel

We had a very very good visit to this Hotel. We thought the room was spotlessly clean - yes it was compact but it had room to move around and had everything we needed. The hotel is in a very convenient central London position so I think people who expect vast cavernous rooms should be prepared to pay a lot more.... which we were not! We thought the people were really friendly and accommodating. The beds were very comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. We will definitely stay there again and I would certainly recommend it. Great value, good location and spotlessly clean.

The room was comforatble enough, and fairly well decorated. The bathroom was miniscule and absolutely smelt disgusting, which only got worse when the toilet was flushed. The smell was so bad that I could not bear to have a shower. The bathroom light was left on all night as the extractor fan stayed on that way. The food was vey basic and did not meet requirements.

Good living

It is easy to find the hotel, the room is not big but very clear. the waiters are kindful, and the brekfast is good. the hotel is not far away from oxford street, it is convenient for people to go shopping and visit the interests. in conclusion, i think it is worth to live here with low cost.

OK for short stay

Convenient to Paddington (5 mins) in a nice area of Sussex Gardens. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was in the basement and had everything you would need for a short stay. However, not a lot of room so didn't bring the cat! Bed was comfortable and shower/toilet was modern and clean. Breakfast was adequate.

Compact would be a generous description.

Well kept hotel from the outside, and friendly greeting at reception on my arrival.
The room was small and decorated in what could best be described as an upmarket 1970's feel.
The main problem was the bathroom. I'm fairly slim, but had I been around 3" wider I would not have been able to negotiate my way into the shower. The sink was crammed into a corner which meant basic activities like brushing teeth and shaving were made difficult.
At breakfast the following morning there was the usual selection of cereals and two types of egg. bizarrely there was also a tray of cheese slices and chocolate swiss roll. Not something I'd ever considered to be part of breakfast. The waitress deposited some toast on my table without a word, and that was the limit of the human interaction.

A lovely surprise!

To be honest I was expecting something much different than I thought for the money that I paid! It was £84 for me and my friend for a room. I was expecting a dump basically but no way! The location was fab and the room was lovely, it was clean and tidy and the furnishings were great. The man on the desk was very friendly and didnt mind us sitting down in the breakfast room while we killed some time before we got our train. Overall, i was very impressed and will certainly be staying there again!!!

Liked it! When we checked in, was giving room directly behind reception, felt like you could hear through walls to people talking so asked if we could move. They were very firendly in accomadating us to what we prefered. Room & bathroom was small, but had everything you need. Comfy bed, very clean, new bathrooms. Short walk to tube station & Paddington Rail (we carried heavy suitcases w/no wheels so not far at all!) Safe area, well lit walking back at night, firendly staff. we didnt have the breakfast.

Dont stay in room 18

Me n my 2 friends stayed in room 18 which is on the top floor which we had to walk up to no lift!!!! and no one to help us with our bags
When we entered the room on first impressions it was nicely decorated and tidy. Then we went into the bathroom and beside the shower the cleaners obviously decided instead of cleaning the floor to just sweep it all into the corner of room behind the shower where no-one would see it and it for certain the manager doesn't check their. When we returned to the room after our night out and were fast asleep we were horrified to find out that the water tank was next to us and made the horrendous noise that kept waking us up. It is like a dentist drill but alot lot worse come 7am we had had enough and decided to get the hell out of the room. so we decided to have a quick shower, skip the breakfast which was included in our price but only one of us managed to get a shower well if you can call it a shower it was more like a trickle and then the shower stopped working and so did the tap on the sink luckily we had some water in a glass so were able to brush out teeth. When we checked out we were asked if we enjoyed the stay which at this point we let loose had it not been that we had to pay when we arrived i dont think we would have paid. the receptionist said we should have told them cause yeah in the middle of the night you are going to want to walk all the down to ask them to change rooms walk all way back pack then change rooms and pack whats the point in that just for a few hours sleep
looks like from the outside but do not stay here!!!!!

Small but perfectly formed

My friend and I stayed at the hotel as somewhere to lay our heads after going to the Wireless Festival, it was a twin room and we both thought it was great! It was clean and tidy and had sky - couldn't ask for more really - apart from towels that would have been useful! The only downside was the breakfast was dreadful - fine if you just want a slice of toast and don't mind boiling a kettle for your coffee - i would have expected a little more to be honest, but the people were very friendly! I would stay again

So bad I left before the second night's stay

I've already phoned laterooms to complain about this hotel. It was right next to a hostel, had drunks outside the front doors, was very noisy and the rooms were'nt clean. I also had a large gap at the bottom of the room door and it didnt feel at all safe so I left the following day (even though I had booked for two nights) and despite asking at reception and contacting laterooms, have been unable to obtain a refund for the second night. Certainlly wont be using this hotel again!

A lot of money for not a lot of Hotel

Only the very fit should book a room on the fourth floor, there are a lot of steep stairs to climb, and the breakfast room is in the basement with more tricky to negotiate winder stairs. Room with poor clothes storage one small drawer and a thin wardrobe with a list like the leaning tower of Pisa. The ensuite is very tight with a watering can pressure shower. The tap on the basin broke but was replaced as promised on the same day. The TV was never accessible during our 2 night stay. Thick sliced white toast, hard boiled eggs, one flavour (strawberry) yoghurt, awful croissant shaped confection, soft and dry made for a memorable breakfast, full marks for some fresh fruit though. Had to wait for a table in the breakfast room, despite the two waitresses working very quickly to stay ahead. Friendly polite staff on desk, and in breakfast room.

Excellent value for money & great location

The hotel is really well situated for padington station, a 5 min walk from the train to the hotel. Staff were friendly and offered 24 hour reception service. Room was 'adequate' but for a base and location couldn't go wrong. Breakfast was toast and cereal but nothing too spectacular. Would defiantly use it again if I needed a single night in London.

Great location, really friendly staff, good value for money

For all American travelers, be aware that the accommodations here are tiny. In fact, the accommodations in London as a whole are tiny. I booked a single room, and when I opened the door, I had to laugh because I haven't slept in a twin bed since I was a child. (As it turns out, that's what a single room means... a twin bed.)
My room was on the first floor. The view of the street was pretty enough, and the window opened wide onto a little veranda. The room was heavily perfumed with some sort of air freshener (which I subsequently found and did my best to block. It wasn't really my preference.) The reception guy who checked me in carried one of my bags up for me, which I later learned wasn't necessarily the way all hotels in the area work.
Also, for American travelers expecting washcloths in your room - there are none. They don't have any... in the UK at all, apparently. I did ask for a second towel, though, and received it promptly.
I had asked upon check-in to make sure that no one came into my room to clean it. I was only staying two days, and because I am a photographer and was shooting a wedding in Scotland a couple of days later, I had roughly $8k in equipment in my room. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of anyone being in there with it while I was gone. The guy evidently forgot because when I returned, my bed was made and the stuff I'd left on my bed were folded neatly on the suitcase. (A little embarrassing... let's just say that if I had known that he'd forget, I would have at least gone to the trouble of hiding my dirty clothes rather than leaving them on the bed.) I had also been quite nervous because the window did not lock, and the veranda went all the way across, essentially connecting my room to my neighbors'. It was a leap of faith, and it worked out. Nothing went missing, and all was well.
I encountered three different guys at the reception desk during my stay there. They were all super nice, and I spoke at length with two of them. I don't remember their names, but they were both really friendly, and I appreciated that since I was traveling alone. The guy that I spoke with on the first night while I couldn't sleep because of jet lag ended up giving me a wakeup call at 9 am (the end of his shift) because I told him I was going to try to wake up early so that I could see some sights. That was really nice.
Pros:
- Super friendly staff.
- I asked for a second towel and received it promptly.
- The room was clean.
- They provided a hair dryer.
- There was a small wardrobe in the room to hang your belongings and store your suitcases.
- Near a bus stop, cafes, a major train station (Paddington) and pubs.
- The bed was comfortable enough, though I would estimate that anyone over 6'0" would have found it uncomfortable because there was just an inch or two between the end of the bed and the wall.
Cons:
- Only one of my outlets worked.
- There is a weird, unpleasant smell in the shower. I thought perhaps that was just the smell of London water, but it wasn't. It isn't good.
- The TV is mounted on the wall a tad too high. The only way to really see it is by lying down and, essentially, looking up.
- The neighbors could have entered my room if they so desired. Thank goodness they didn't.
Overall, though, this was a great place to stay. I thought it was good when I was there, but I realized how excellent it had been after I left and came back to London for one last night and stayed somewhere else not all that far away. I wished while I was at the other hotel that I had come back to ABC.

Good value central accomodation

I stayed overnight at this small hotel whilst attending a course in the west end. Good value basic budget accomodation . I booked on price and location and could not find better for under £60! Reception staff helpful and although my single room was small and downstairs (window but no outlook but I was spending minimum time in room anyway) it was clean. En suite very small - shower cubicle tiny and door needed repair but everything was clean. TV in room and basic tea/coffee making facilities. Because of location of room no reception on mobile phoneand no wifi. Breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate and service pleasant. Really good location set back from the road and only 5 minutes from paddington station and so easy to access the underground to get around. If you are looking for clean, good value no frills accomodation within reach of the centre it is fine.

Shoebox in the cellar

At 65 pounds this was one of the cheaper options in London. The shower was broken, the room so small you couldn't swing a cat in it, the sky tv & kettle were a bonus but I'd have preferred an extra 10m2. I also awoke to an ant parade across the floor. Best thing about the hotel - Location. Excellent location. Worst thing - Size of room / Shower. Tiny. Made for elfs.

Convenience travelling

I always travel alone and was pleased not to get the usual dingy basement room. However, it was noisy and I was woken every night by other guests shouting, banging doors or TVs too loud. The room was light and spacious with a chair. There was no plug in the sink and no hairdryer. Breakfast was adequate but no wholemeal bread or muesli for the more discerning healthy eater. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had stayed here before and found it quieter on the previous occasion.

Could be a nice place but it's not

I'd rather have a decent breakfast than a flat-screen tv in my room. A boiled egg? for 75 quid? Come on, get your priorities right. And get some decent tradesmen in to fix the place up. The shower leaks and smells of damp. The curtains couldn't be drawn and the window frame was falling to pieces so light and noise from the main road kept us awake.
